Cape Point Flying Dutchman Standseilbahn-Rückflugticket

This funicular takes you from the car park upto the area that gives you the most incredible views. The trip on this only takes a few minutes but is worth the time. There are still several steps to climb to get to the Lighthouse where the vista is even better. A nice thing to do whilst in the area. At the base of the funicular there is a gift shop too.

I booked my tickets online because the queues are busy Very busy with bus loads if international visitors. The tram was efficient on time abd saved us an hours climb in thd midday heat. Food shop was very very busy. There must be points to sell water only to people. Toilets were clean even for a sunday Will recommend tram anytime because of time constraints people can reach top quicker.

This small funicular connects the Cape of Good Hope car park to the base of the lighthouse. It's true that the ticket is cheap, but the walk that you can do alternatively is pleasant and short as well as scenic. Today I took this funicular because I had a sore knee, but it is definitely not worth it, better to go up and down on foot.

Great views!! The funicular makes getting to the top of cape point much more accessible. There are still some stairs to climb to get to the lighthouse.

While hiking to the top is possible, the Flying Dutchman is an easy alternative and very reasonably priced. Windows are badly scratched so viewing is not so great from the car itself.

It was a great experience to finally visit. However, I could not be able to experience the ride for my return ticket due to load shedding and could not wait for electricity to come back as it was a very long drive to get there but I will definitely visit again some time.

To reach the old lighthouse there is an uphill road of about 600m, but there is also a funicular, which we took (Flying Dutchman Funicular: adults return 90 rand, children over 6 years 50 rand). It starts from a point next to the restaurant and goes up to the souvenir kiosk near the old 1860 lighthouse, later replaced by a new one built at Dias Point in 1919, because it was often obscured by fog. At the top of the lighthouse the view of the Cape peninsula is magnificent, the usual photographic shots are a must, at the foot of the lighthouse and with the famous pole with the signs of the kilometers away from the main metropolises of the planet attached. From the foot of the lighthouse you can enjoy a splendid 360° view of the surroundings. Near the departure of the Funicular there is a large panoramic restaurant, the Two Oceans Restaurant.

As a real "dutchman" I couldn't resist using this cable car. With two family members who have a bit more difficulty walking, this was a very nice outcome!

The funicular saves time, but you can also do it on foot, to see the colony of cormorants and the faro.La wonderful view.

Pensioners get discount, frequent, quick and comfortable. Still a lot of steps and walking if you want to go to the end of the road so it is a good idea to use the funicular for this very steep section.
