Als César Manrique Ende der 1960er Jahre nach Lanzarote zurückkehrte und zusammen mit Jesús Soto mit dem Bau und der Inbetriebnahme des Kunst- und Tourismuszentrums von Lanzarote begann, war ihnen vielleicht nicht bewusst, welchen internationalen und künstlerischen Trend sie einschlugen generieren. César, ein multidisziplinärer Künstler, Maler, Bildhauer, Konservator von Denkmälern und Touristenorten, Designer von Landschaften und Gärten und anerkannter Ökologe, schuf aus natürlichen vulkanischen Unfällen eine Tendenz, die die Welt beeinflusste. Es gelang ihm, Kunst, Urbanismus und Tourismus in einem einzigen Konzept zu vereinen, unter einer Philosophie und einem Modell der urbanen Intervention, die auf Nachhaltigkeit und Respekt vor den natürlichen Werten des Territoriums basieren, zu einer heute weltweiten Referenz. Ohne seine Kunst wäre unsere Insel sicherlich weniger attraktiv und hätte viel weniger Persönlichkeit. Monumento al Campesino ist ein Werk von César Manrique und eine Hommage an die Arbeit auf den Feldern der Lanzarote-Gemeinschaft.

El Jardín de Cactus in Guatiza, Gemeinde Teguise, ist das letzte große Werk von César Manrique auf Lanzarote, eine faszinierende Kreation, die etwa 4.500 Kakteenexemplare von etwa 500 Arten aus fünf Kontinenten beherbergt.
Mirador del Río (480 m), ein spektakulärer Aussichtspunkt, der in den Rand der Klippe gehauen und von Manrique nachgebaut wurde und ein alter Artillerieposten „Batería del Río“ war. Von hier aus können wir die Chinijo-Inseln sehen.

Well paced day out. Loved the caves and Cesar Manrique cactus garden and house. Pablo, aka Paul, was a fabulous guide. Very knowledgeable and friendly. I think it should be made clearer to people who book that lunch is 15 euro, and pretty much non- negotiable, unless you want to take your own food, or go without, as it's in the middle of a small village with no other options. Having said that, it was a buffet, so lots of choice, tasty food and included wine and water. We weren't lucky with the weather, but it didn't spoil the day.
Apart from the lengthy run around for pick ups and drop offs the tour was very enjoyable. Staff were great.
Great day exploring the greatest artist of Lanzarote. Recommend to everyone who like art and architecture. The staff and the bus was professional.
This tour was badly organised, and the guide gave ua very little information and made no effort to animate the group. The 15 Euro lunch at El Cortilo was just plain awful and a serious ripoff for the money. Avoid this tour!
i went solo and it was lovely! bring cash to tip your guide and driver :) I thought there was time to explore every site and saw amazing sights
What a fantastic trip. Fascinating view points in the mountains overlooking La graciosa, then into the cesar manrique caves. Wow what a place. Finished off with an aloe museum tour.. Equally as good. Was only a few hours which was great. Would recommend
Fabulous tour of the North of the Island. Lots put in to one day - absolutely worth it. There are a LOT of steps involved, and I have mobility difficulties, but did manage it, even though I paid for it later. But people worse than myself had other options. Talk to the organisers, they were great.
A fascinating day trip seeing some lovely old towns and sights, a standout was the visit to the green caves, really amazing. The tour guide was wonderful and very informative, she really made the day very special
