Der älteste Leuchtturm in Maine, im Auftrag von George Washington. Gilt als der meistfotografierte Leuchtturm in Maine.
Denkmal für die Marinewerft aus dem Zweiten Weltkrieg. Mit bis zu 30.000 Mitarbeitern bauten die Arbeiter ab 1941 30 „Ocean“-Frachtschiffe für die britische Regierung und kurz darauf 236 „Liberty“-Frachtschiffe für die USA.
Die 1897 erbaute Lichtstation im Caisson-Stil markiert die Westseite der Einfahrt in den Hauptschifffahrtskanal von Casco Bay. Angrenzend liegen Fort Preble und das Southern Maine Community College.
Nach dem Vorbild von Fort Sumner handelt es sich um eine ehemalige Militärfestung, die auf dem Hog Island Ledge in der Casco Bay errichtet wurde. Von 1858 bis 1864 wurden dort keine Schlachten ausgetragen und keine Truppen stationiert
Erbaut im Jahr 1875, wegen seiner geringen Größe auch Bug Light genannt. Es war einem griechischen Denkmal nachempfunden, aber aus Gusseisen gefertigt. Es ist vom Bug Light Park umgeben, der im Sommer zum Picknicken und Drachensteigen beliebt ist.

A beautiful way to see the city and sunset! We enjoyed the narration during the cruise. Hearing the stories and history of Portland was a great learning experience.

Excellent tour- we learned and were entertained and saw all the sights. Our guide was fantastic and we enjoyed every minute of the tour. Get there early if you want to sit on the top deck and definitely bring a sweatshirt or windbreaker, even if it’s hot outside. You’ll be glad you have it. Also, sit on the right side of the boat.
Went on the sunset lighthouse tour with Mark as our guide. It was amazing! We learned so much about the islands and lighthouses around the bay, and saw an absolutely gorgeous sunset, along with some local wildlife. Mark was a great guide- knowledgeable, friendly, and funny. This is definitely a must-do to experience Portland and learn about the local nature and history of Casco Bay and Maine.
Very enjoyable experience with Captain - and LT narrating. It was fun hearing about all the sights we passed as well as LT’s experiences in the area as this was where he was born and raised. The sunset was beautiful and we even got to see some seals. Tip - bring a jacket as it got chilly heading back.
We took this cruise on June 27th. We were seated on the back of the boat on the first level. We heard not a thing of the tour as the speaker on the back of the boat was not as loud as the propellors. About 30 minutes into the ride everything was fog. I wish we knew of the fog ahead of time and had time to cancel. Overall a disappointment, unfortunately.
Comfortable cruise around Bay Area with interesting commentary about structures and lighthouses, and general history of the region. Unfortunately clouds hid the sunset, though we had some sky colors.
