Constanta, vor fast 2600 Jahren als Kolonie gegründet, ist die älteste belegte Stadt Rumäniens, der größte Hafen am Schwarzen Meer (drittgrößter in Europa) und mit 400.000 Einwohnern auch die viertgrößte Stadt Rumäniens. Constanta wurde von den Griechen als Hafen an der Schwarzmeerküste für den Handel mit Binnenvölkern gegründet und Tomis (VI. Jh. V. Chr.) Genannt. Die Stadt wurde später nach Constantina, Nichte von Constantine the Great (274-337) umbenannt. Noch im 10. und 11. Jahrhundert war es eine blühende Hafenstadt, die mit dem Byzantinischen Reich und der Stadt Genua Handel trieb.

Alex was an outstanding guide. He was knowledgeable, humorous, and liked to talk. He took us to all of the great places in the city and the area. We had a very nice lunch near to seashore. Traffic into Bucharest was a bit heavy. i would highly recommend this tour.
This trip was the absolute highlight of my tourist adventures in Bucharest. The driver (Octavian) was fantastic & I learned so much about the area’s history and its present. It was a day very well spent with a guide who’s at the top of the list of many trip leaders I have experienced traveling over the years. I highly recommend this tour, for anyone seeking a day’s cultural, historical and scenic experience. You cannot go wrong.
