Die Columbia River Gorge ist eine Schlucht des Columbia River im pazifischen Nordwesten der Vereinigten Staaten. Bis zu einer Tiefe von bis zu 4000 Metern erstreckt sich der Canyon über 80 km, während sich der Fluss nach Westen durch die Cascade Range windet und die Grenze zwischen dem Staat Washington im Norden und Oregon im Süden bildet.

Had the most amazing time with Maile. He was so calm and cool about the experience and talked through everything we were seeing. It was a bit windy and I was nervous about being on such a small plane for the first time but it was so easy and the landing was literally the smoothest landing I’ve ever experienced - including commercial! Such great views and a fun way to spend the afternoon with friends and family.

We did the Quicksand Triangle tour with our pilot Harris and had a phenomenal time. The weather was perfect and the views were stunning! Harris took great care of us and had a smooth take off and landing. Will be back!!

The pilot was great. Very polite and friendly. However, it didn’t seem like 20 mins. Just as you are heading out and getting into the gorge it’s time to head back. Apparently the clock starts ticking from the time the engine starts? It takes a good 5-7 mins for the engine to warm up!!! I think the river cruises are better. Great views of the gorge on sternwheeler. Do that instead.
Thanks for your feedback. The flight tour you booked is our shortest and definitely does seem like it goes by quickly! As it mentions in the activity listing, flight times are approximate as they do depend on a few things such as weather, air traffic flow, and other factors out of control. However, in reviewing the data and records for your specific flight, the actual time in the air was 0.33 hours (20 minutes). That doesn’t include time on the ground or engine warm ups.
I surprised my husband with a birthday flight from Envi Adventures, specifically booking the Columbia River Gorge tour. We arrived on time, but no one was at the front desk, just another couple waiting. Our pilot, Natasha, eventually greeted us and gave a safety briefing. I mentioned it was my husband's birthday, and we were excited to fly. Although our flight was scheduled for noon, we took off around 12:13. It was a sunny but windy day. I was disappointed that we had to sit in the back, and my window was foggy/blurry while the others were clear. We felt that since we paid the same as the others, we should have a view too. Once airborne, Natasha told us we’d be touring downtown Portland instead of the gorge due to strong winds. I appreciated the detour, but was frustrated since I had already done a downtown tour before. Overall, I was unhappy that I didn’t get to see what the other couple enjoyed while paying the same amount. I've attached images to show my view during the ride.
First off, a Happy Birthday to your husband! We love being part of surprises, and I’m so sorry this one didn’t quite end up the way you hoped. I wanted to share a little more about why your flight looked a bit different than planned. We definitely don’t want our guests feeling like they missed out, but in the flying world, the weather sometimes makes those decisions for us. The Route Change: I know it’s a bummer to see Downtown when you were expecting the Gorge (especially if you’ve done that flight before!). Natasha made that call because the winds in the Gorge can get pretty intense. Safety & comfort is the one thing we never compromise on, so she pivoted to Portland to make sure your flight was as smooth as possible instead of what would have been a pretty bumpy flight. The Seating & Windows: We completely understand your take on the window—that’s frustrating when you're trying to see and have a great experience. We will be working on that to make sure that this specific plane provides an improved viewing experience. As for the seating, we have to seat guests based on weight and balance for the aircraft. It’s a bit like a puzzle; we have to distribute the weight perfectly so the plane flies level and stays within the weight and balance profile for the aircraft, which is why we can’t always let guests pick their spots. The Timing: We try to run a tight schedule, but sometimes delays happen earlier on that lead to departure delays later on. Often times, those delays are completely out of our control. due to weather, air traffic control, etc. We really appreciate you being a good sport about the detour. We’d love to have you back on a day when the winds are behaving so we can finally show you those Gorge waterfalls!

This was an unforgettable experience! The views of the Columbia River Gorge from the air were absolutely breathtaking—waterfalls, cliffs, and winding river all looked stunning. Our pilot, JP, was awesome—super professional, friendly, and full of great local knowledge. Felt totally safe the whole time. Highly recommend this adventure!
