Had a fantastic trip to the caves. Our guide Maria was very knowledgeable and ever so kind. The bus driver whose name I forgot (sorry) was also super nice and offered assistance with my elderly Grandparent which was appreciated. The tour was amazing and Maria’s gripping stories kept us all entertained on the bus. The only downside was we missed the small print where we had to pay for the cave visits but it wasn’t an issue as they fairly priced. The wine stop was lovely and a nice end to the day. We purchased some Robola wine to continue our cultural experience back home. Thanks again to everyone involved, Best, Tom

This was a horrible experience. A complete waste of the one day we got in Argostoli. We were better off staying on the boat. The description indicates you will get 1.5 hours at each cave. This is a flat out lie. In reality, you spend a solid 3 hours just driving across the island all day. We got a 5 MINUTE boat ride to see the first cave, 15 MINUTES at the second cave. 15 minutes to walk down lots of steps, wait and pay for a ticket, walk down more stairs, walk around a huge cave with zero commentary on what we are looking at or the history of how the cave was discovered or anything. Zero information. We had no time to use the restroom OR buy anything in the shop to drink or eat. The second cave is also not suitable for anyone older or out of shape. It’s a lot of stairs, really fast. You get 10 minutes on the side of the road to take a picture of the most beautiful beach in Argostoli. How stupid is that? Advice - book the excursion where you drive straight to that beach (Myrtos) and snorkel. That would actually be worth the money. Finally, our tour was supposed to include wine tasting and some other samplings like an almond dessert and honey maybe, we didn’t get that at all. Also, our tour was overbooked so some poor soul had to ride with the guide and driver. That sucks. I’ve reported all of this in an email already and nothing is being done to remedy the situation. I brought 5 kids with me who had to ride on a hot bus all day and never touch the water. The way I read this excursion description, we would be in a boat looking at caves. I never expected to sit in a bus all day. Many people (us included) showed up in bathing suits. I can’t say it enough. This was awful. Don’t waste your money or your day on this. And don’t rely on these people to make it right. They don’t care. Rosa was a good guide. Yani drove the bus well. If I could give this zero stars, I would.

However, several points in your review do not accurately reflect the tour description provided at the time of booking. On the day of your excursion, three cruise ships arrived in Kefalonia, resulting in significantly higher visitor numbers at the caves. Guests were advised in advance that waiting times could be longer than usual due to the increased traffic. The tour description clearly states the approximate time spent at each stop and does not indicate 1.5 hours inside each cave. It also explains that transportation between attractions is part of the excursion, as the sites are located in different areas of the island. The description makes no reference to swimming, snorkeling, or water activities. For this reason, arriving in swimwear appears to have been based on an assumption rather than information provided by us. We are also surprised by your comments regarding the guide, as Rosa provided commentary and information throughout the tour, and many guests specifically compliment her knowledge and professionalism. Likewise, Yani is consistently praised for his safe and courteous driving. Regarding seating arrangements, we cannot control where guests choose to sit when boarding, and unfortunately we cannot always guarantee that larger groups will be seated together. This is not a result of overbooking, but simply a consequence of guest seating choices. We appreciate your positive comments about Rosa and Yani. While we respect that this tour was not the right fit for your expectations, we encourage future guests to carefully review the excursion description to ensure it matches the type of experience they are looking for. While the island is beautiful and we would love to see more of it, this tour is not worth the price or the time spent on the bus. The lake is very neat, however, we stood in line in the heat for an hour for a 10 minute tour. This took so long that we didn’t have time for the wine stop. It seems that they were not equipped for the number of cruisers visiting the day we were there.

However, it is important to note that on the day of your excursion, three large cruise ships were in port, bringing an exceptionally high number of visitors to Kefalonia. All guests were advised prior to departure that longer waiting times at the attractions were likely due to the increased crowds. Unfortunately, the queue for the lake is managed by the attraction itself and not by tour operators. Every visitor, regardless of which excursion they booked, experienced the same delays that day. The extended waiting time at the lake unfortunately affected the schedule and resulted in the wine stop being omitted in order to ensure all guests returned to their cruise ships on time. While we understand this was disappointing, missing a ship's departure would have been a far greater inconvenience. We appreciate that waiting in the heat is not ideal, but the circumstances were the result of unusually high visitor numbers rather than a lack of preparation by the tour operators. We thank you for your understanding and hope that despite the crowds, you were still able to enjoy some of the unique sights that Kefalonia has to offer.
We had an amazing day of exploring the caves around our port of Argostoli. Our guide Rosa Lea was amazing. Full of knowledge and had an amazing attitude. It sure makes a difference to have such a great guide with an amazing attitude! The caves were really cool as well. Lots of great photos and memories!

We enjoyed our experience at the caves and wine tasting. Our guide, Maria, was the best. Raised in an English speaking country but with deep roots in the area, her English was perfect and her knowledge and love for the area was clearly evident in all the information and stories she shared. She made a great call changing the cave order up so we avoided long lines from other tours. The bus was comfortable and everything was super convenient with pickup right at the cruise terminal exit and dropoff in town with plenty of time to enjoy the shops and restaurants. You have to purchase your own tickets to both caves but the prices are reasonable and they take credit cards. Neither cave tours are particularly long but definitely worth the visit and the views from the drive were spectacular.

Whilst the tour was interesting and the guide gave a good insight into the history of the island, there were a couple of issues. This tour is geared up for visiting cruise ships and doesn’t appreciate that other customers have booked directly and are staying on the island. This led to confusion over the pick up point even though we waited over 30 mins at the location provided in the booking. It then became clear that the timings and itinerary were dictated by the time the cruise ship customers had to be back, leading to shortened times at some stops. Also, the waiting time to get into the Melissani cave was almost 1 hour. This was due to numerous tour groups visiting from the 2 cruise ships in port which surely should be anticipated and coordinated by experienced tour operators. The final wine tasting stop was disappointing and rushed due to cruise ship guests getting anxious about missing their tender. I felt sorry for the shop owner providing this service. Unfortunately, it seems that this tour is only offered when cruise ships visit due to numbers required. My advice to see this stunning island and visit these sites would be to find a private guide or hire a car and buy a good guidebook.
