Antigua Mud Buggy Abenteuer mit Strand Stop - St. Mary's

Beschreibung

Had a great time driving quads around the hills and roads. While it was limited on mud, there hasn't been a lot of rain here, it was still a blast. Had the opportunity to switch drivers and stop at beautiful beach. Recommend bandana or Gatorade for your face, the dust is wicked.
What a fun adventure. The crew was super friendly and accommodating! No frills, check in, safety briefing and get on the trail. Don’t forget your photo id/license! All different terrain! Dusty-muddy fun!
First I want to start off by saying I am not bashing this company and I am not doing this review to stop others from booking. I am simply sharing my experience and giving feedback to the company. In the beginning of the trail, I did end up hitting a tree while turning. Once they got us out and saw the vehicle was fine they did not allow me to drive anymore. I had to continue the trail with the guide driver. This took away my experience and didn’t allow me to enjoy what was happening. Although a drivers license is needed, the company should take into consideration that a buggy is very different from a regular car. Just because you have a drivers license does not mean you can drive every vehicle known to man. If they are concerned about their vehicles being damaged, they should pick a trail that would beginner friendly for those who never drove a buggy before or have buggy’s that are inexpensive to fix. I didn’t pay all this money to be a “passenger princess”. There are other companies that when you crash they get you out and let you continue to drive the rest the way. This was my first time ever crashing and that was my first time driving a buggy. People make mistakes but that shouldn’t make you take their experience away. This did not discourage me to not drive a buggy ever again. I will definitely do it again but just not with this company. The views were definitely 10/10 by the way.
This was the most fun we had on our cruise stop in Antigua. Start to finish, very professional and friendly tour operators. We rode approx. 20 miles in the back country through fields with cows and mud trails. Stopped at a beautiful beach for great photos. Would recommend highly. We are in our 70s and still love a great adventure! Did not disappoint!
Hour long ride that ends with a view of the beach
Thank you so much for your kind feedback
This experience was absolutely wonderful! The guides were outstanding and knowledgeable of the area (shout out to Sadie who had nerves of steel riding with me). It had not rained in a while, so the trail was VERY dusty. Be sure to bring face coverings. The buggies were in great condition and most of the journey is through the countryside down to the beach. Be prepared to drive through areas of town that have more litter and debris than you would prefer. This is beyond the company’s control as there are no other viable options but going through certain parts of town to reach points of interest.
This is a fantastic way to see Antigua! I'm sure there are several other trails and sojourns throughout the tiny island nation, but the mud buggy adventure gets you through it in unique style. This is a beefed-up, left-hand drive go-cart with full roll cage that seats two people. It has a simple accelerator pedal and brake; just know that it is NOT power steering. Obviously, the driver has the steering wheel, yet the passenger has a stout steel roll bar in front of the seat to hang on. And trust me: it is needed! I suppose the "mud" aspect depends on the rainy season, but I didn't encounter any... but wife did! Just a bit, though. We drove through sedate country roads with various houses and ranchlands with cattle and goats. At one point, our lead driver, Joel, slowed down to allow/encourage a herd of sheep to clear off the road. It was rather bucolic, a sort of "one with nature" moment. The steering in the buggy is a bit delayed - it is not a sports car! - so you need to learn how to anticipate the turns ahead as you follow the lead driver. Also, you may want to bring along a handkerchief or face covering as it will get dusty along the way. (Don't ask me how I know that! LOL) We ended up (I think) at Sea Fort Beach, a secluded spot with a magnificent view of Monserrat, which is 25 miles away, clear as a bell. It conjures thoughts of what it must have been like some 30 years ago when Montserrat's Soufrière Hills volcano blew... and to have front row seating of Mother Nature's power from this very beach. Wow! The awesomeness of nature awaits all throughout this fantastic excursion. When you go to Antigua, don't miss the opportunity... you won't regret it!
Oh my gosh, this was so much fun! It was so fun to go through the countryside and driving. The ATVs was a blast. You will get a little dirty! But completely worth it.
IT wasn’t SO BAD HOWEVER, JOEL, the owner I’m assuming; scared everyone about damaging the vehicles and how insanely costly it would be- for example $900 USD for a replacement tire (rolls eyes) lets be realistic. That immediately took the fun out of it. In the 14 years they have been doing this there have only been six incidents. How ironic was it that one of the other vehicles ended up breaking down, but it wasn’t even the fault of the driver. In my opinion, it could’ve been a little bit more fun and laid-back. Also, it is advertised as buggy, but instead they give you a UTV to ride. If you book outside of Viator, they ask you for your credit card when you arrive- “for verification purposes”. Antigua is beautiful and the beaches are all amazing- so don’t let this discourage you.
This was our first trip to Antigua and we wanted to do something fun. There hadn't been much rain before our event, so we thought it might end up being a "dust buggy" experience. Everything worked well with the pre-booking, but due to lack of steady internet access we utilized guest services at our resort to assist us with the pick-up time confirmation. The transportation was on time and it took about 45 minutes to reach the location. Just after we arrived, the skies opened up and once the rain stopped we were ready to go. Putting safety first, we were fitted with helmets and given a presentation on dos and don'ts and strapped into a safety harness inside the buggy. The steering wheel is on the left side and the buggy is open to the elements, so wear closed toe shoes and clothes you won't mind getting muddy. Bring a waterproof fanny pack for any personal items as there is no place to store them. Sunglasses and a neck gaitor are necessary to keep dust and mud off your face! The steering wheel may be a little stiff at times, but a little muscle helps. The buggies are made for two people, a guide leads the group and another will follow behind. Your route will take you on backroads, through fields, to a beach and on regular roadways. Our ride was filled with laughter every time we got muddy and it was worth every penny! Our transport home was so accommodating, he even lined the seats with garbage bags so we wouldn't ruin the upholstery. I would recommend this tour for the friendliness of the staff and guides, their safety precautions and the route we took. Thanks again for a great time!
