Such an AMAZING experience! I wasn’t sure I was going to get past the first hour of the hike. That was definitely the hardest, physically and mentally. Lots of stairs, steep inclines and loose volcanic ash but the experience was well worth it! CA Travelers tour was amazing! I hired a porter, Jordin and another tour guide stayed with us, David the were the BEST!!! and between them (and obviously my husband ofc) they were a big part of why I was able to keep pushing through and made it to the top! The cabins were nicer than I expected, they gave plenty of food and decent too! 1lb of bbq chicken with rice and salad for lunch, pasta and wine for dinner breakfast the day of and day after and fresh Mayan hot chocolate when we first made it to base camp.they also set you up with a lot of items to bring so you don’t have to buy them. Like coat hiking shoes head lamps so much more. I can’t say any more good things about CA travelers! And if you get the pleasure of having David and/or Jordin, they’ll have your back for sure!

We did the overnight trip to Acatenango and it was amazing!! Our guide David was so nice and helpful the whole time. He encouraged us to go at our own pace and we didn’t feel rushed at all (+ plenty of stops along the way). Highly recommend this company as everything was well organised, food was great and camp was too!

Oh my god wow! What an amazing experience. The hike was tough and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t question my life choices.. multiple times, but the guides are amazing! My girlfriend and I did the overnight hike to Acatenango, and we had a great experience with CA Travelers. They supplied us with everything necessary to make it through the hike. (Jacket, food, backpack, water, etc.) We had our own little cabin to ourselves at the top of the volcano. They reached out to us ahead of time and shared plenty of information about how to prepare, so there were no surprises throughout the experience. The hike was absolutely beautiful, and seeing Volcan de Fuego erupt was a once in a lifetime event. This hike is very challenging, especially if you choose to go on the additional hike to the edge of Volcan de Fuego. It is 100% worth the challenge - just be prepared to be wiped out once you are done. Our guides, Marvin and Levi, were great too. They were friendly and professional throughout the entire trip. I enjoyed chatting with them both as they lead us up and down the volcano.

Amazing experience from beginning to end! Hiking Acatenango was definitely challenging, but absolutely worth it. The guides were professional, friendly, encouraging, and made us feel safe throughout the entire hike. The organization was great, and having the option to hire a porter was a lifesaver for me! The campsite was comfortable, and watching Volcán de Fuego erupt at night was truly one of the most incredible things I have ever experienced. The views and sunrise were unforgettable. This hike is not easy, so come prepared for a challenge, but I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone looking for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure in Guatemala. Exhausting, beautiful, and completely unforgettable!

We chose to do the climb up Acatenango with CA travelers over two days. The organization is precise and well-managed (provision of equipment, meals, ...) and nothing is left to chance. The camp on the slopes of Acatenango is very well set up and the cabins are perfectly arranged, and despite the freezing temperatures, you can sleep there without being cold (sleeping bags + fleece blanket). The view of Fuego from the camp is breathtaking! A quick note on the hikes: - The climb to the camp is long and sustained but without any real difficulty. Contrary to what I have read in many posts, it is easily accessible to anyone who has at least some physical fitness or has already done mountain hiking. - We did not do the extension to Fuego, so no opinion. - The climb from the camp to the summit of Fuego is, however, much more difficult. There is only 400m of elevation gain, but it is very steep and the ground is granular, which makes progress very arduous. It must be added that to reach the summit at sunrise, the hike is done at night, with a headlamp, in polar cold (very largely negative temperature) and that you are not far from 4000m of altitude after all. The real negative point of CA travelers is the number of people: There were nearly 30 of us, to which had to be added the 5 or 6 guides. Really a lot (too many) for a group, constantly creating stops and complexity when crossing other groups in the opposite direction of equivalent size. If I had to do it again, I would really favor a smaller group, if that is possible. A few tips to finish: - the bag: you must have a good-sized bag to carry everything necessary (including meals, the parka, ...). It is possible to have a bag with a capacity of less than 40L as required, but frankly, it is complicated, and carrying half the items outside the backpack (as other hikers did, for lack of space in their bag) is very impractical. It is also possible to rent an adequate backpack if you do not have one (50 Q). - poles are essential for the final climb to the summit of Acatenango. Here again, it is possible to rent some (50 Q). - if you do not wish to carry all the equipment to simplify your ascent, it is finally possible to have a porter (200 Q). - it is really very cold at night at the campsite and in the morning during the ascent to the summit of Acatenango: you are provided with gloves, a parka, and a neck gaiter. It is frankly recommended to have brought a hat, a down jacket, a fleece, or even glove liners in addition if you do not want to be frozen. - I found the organization a bit fussy about small details: a porter's bag must not exceed 12kg, otherwise it is more expensive (and they weigh it to the gram!). Upon return, they check the return of the equipment (which seems normal to me) including the cutlery from the lunch pack which they charge you for if it is missing (authentic), ...: since the price is not exactly cheap, I find that a bit excessive! - Unless you book at the last minute depending on the weather, you will really have to count on luck because the weather is fickle and changes very quickly. As an example, we were in the wet season and did not have a minute of rain over the two days. We were lucky enough to see splendid eruptions of Fuego at the beginning of the night and before sunrise, but the rest of the time, Fuego was invisible because it was in the clouds. The people who did the (paid) extension to Fuego saw absolutely nothing. We barely saw the sunrise at the summit of Acatenango because it was very cloudy and there was such a wind that it was difficult to stand, making the experience a bit painful! But if there is one thing to remember, it is that: seeing Fuego erupt at night is simply incredible and unforgettable. For that alone, it is worth doing this hike.

I really enjoyed the tour company I thought they were professional and friendly from start to finish I like the touch of providing smoothies for us on return. Lots of our gear was included I only payed extra for hiking pools at the base of the mountain but I felt they went above and beyond to make our experience special they had marshmallows and hot chocolate at base camp and a common area cabin that was really nice. The cabins held 2 to 4 people and were very comfortable I didn’t feel cold when sleeping only at fuego and they really monitored out weather to make fuego happened. That being said every person on our tour did get sick within 24-48 hours with a gastrointestinal illness I suspect ecoli it could have been from the chicken in the lunch or water truly anything and as unfortunate as this is I truly feel it was a one off and i would still recommend this company just be mindful if you feel unwell in the following days to go to a pharmacy

The experience was very good. The food is very delicious, the stay at the camp is very comfortable, and the guides Lorena, Gerson, David, and Marvin were very attentive to everyone, to how you felt on the climb, they gave recommendations, and always prioritized our safety.
