Peter was amazing, very informative. We had lots of rain and he was prepared for that!! He took great care of us and knew all about the areas we visited. We wish him the very best!! His English was great.
Would love to have more time in Rothenburg, but getting to see the castle later in the day and with lights at night was magical, our guide, Thomas was awesome
Castle was awesome. Couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Not enough time in Rothenburg so that part of the trip should be cut out. I couldn’t shop or climb the wall. It was a great spot and I’ll go back when I have 3-4 hours to spend.
Peter was absolutely the best tour guide for this trip. He was knowledgeable, pointing out and explaining all of the historical landmarks. He also explained all of the necessary steps on each part of our castle tour. He definitely went the extra mile!
It is a 4 hour drive to the castle from Frankfurt and then a wait for timed ticket to enter. There is a 30 minute wait to take the carriage up (reccommended) and then the last carriage is at 4pm so most likely walking down a steep long walk. Wear good shoes. The tour of the inside of castle itself is very brief (20 minute audio which guards rush you through). You will climb up and down multiple spiral stair cases 4 flights. At the end then you are left with souvenirs and a Cafe. Recommend watching the videos at the end for more info. Incredibly beautiful but not enough time to enjoy it or soak in all the details. No cameras allowed inside. Our tour guide Peter was very kind and patient and knowledgeable especially about Rothenberg.
Peter was our local guide as well as professional driver and he was very informative And energetic throughout the trip
These are beautiful places to visit but the distance from Frankfurt is too long! I would take this tour from Munich, which is closer. Peter, our driver and tour guide was excellent. He was very professional, polite, knowledgeable and you will enjoy this tour anyway. We really enjoyed having him as guide and companion the whole day. Again, one problem is the distance from Frankfurt, almost 5 hours! However, when you arrive there everything will be magic and great. The castle, the town and the surrounding are excellent. Rothenburg is a beautiful town and a must see. The problem is that will arrive too late to enjoy it. It deserves at least 2 days stay there. I definitely go back and stay in Rothenburg!
DO NOT BOOK THIS!!! it is almost impossible physically to do this tour. there just isn't enough time in the day. You'll get to the Castle late and by the time you get to Rothenburg it will be night time and everything will be closed. I booked through Viator and they will not compensate us for only getting half of the tour. So basically i paid over $1k for 3 of us to sit in completely uncomfortable van without even a radio for over 10 hour of driving to do just one location - the castle. This tour package is awful and if you need to see these two sites, find another way.
DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR!!! This tour is just physically improbable. There just isn't enough time to do it. It is more than 9 hours in a silent uncomfortable van. I felt like a prisoner with no food. We left at 8:30 am for a tour scheduled at 3:50 pm. We did not get to visit Rothenburg which was the primary reason for our booking. THey are selling this tour which is very expensive and not delivering what was advertised. We got to Rothenburg at 8pm. just in time to see everything close - no sight seeing, no shopping, nothing. JUst a quick drive in a circle then back on the autobahn for more misery. Just rent a car and visit yourself. I'm ashamed I paid this much money for such a miserable "tour".
Long trip, but driver Ken was excellent telling us facts and some history. We also stopped in Rotthenberg on the way back and ate dinner at a fantastic little German restaurant
