Zum Mittagessen traditionelles portugiesisches Essen in einem typischen Restaurant in Silves. Diese historische Stadt, die zuvor die Hauptstadt des maurischen Königreichs der Algarve war, liegt auf dem Land, zwischen der Küste und den Bergen der Region, und hier finden wir eine sehr traditionelle portugiesische und algarvische Gastronomie mit Einflüssen aus dem Meer und dem Landesinneren

Das Hotel liegt im Norden von Portimão, bereits im Landkreis Silves. Es handelt sich um eine exklusive Weinfarm, die nördlichste in der Region, direkt am Beginn des Monchique-Gebirges. Im Besitz eines portugiesisch-französischen Paares, das sich in Bordeaux kennengelernt hat, wo er geboren und aufgewachsen ist, umgeben vom Einfluss des Weins. Sie zogen zu Beginn des Jahrhunderts in die Region, um dieses Projekt von Null an zu beginnen. An den Hängen des Odelouca-Flusses Vlley pflanzten sie ihre Weinberge und bauten ein kleines, aber gut ausgestattetes Weingut, in dem sich auch ein Verkostungsraum, ein Fassraum und ein Labor befinden.
Das Hotel liegt im nördlichen Grenzgebiet von Portimão und Alvor. Mit dem großen Berg von Monchique, der die Aussicht dominiert, wenn wir uns in den Weinbergen befinden, hat dieses große Anwesen auch Anbaugebiete von Korkeichen, Weizenfeldern und Orangenbäumen. Seit 1865 in Familienbesitz und seit langem Traubenproduzenten, baute diese Farm 1999 ihre moderne Weinkellerei und war die erste, die Weine mit zertifizierter Ursprungsbezeichnung an der Algarve produzierte. Auf der Esplanade, im Laden oder an den Eichenfässern ist die Tradition dieses Familienbesitzes sichtbar.

Despite a cloudy day, this wine tour was a great all day experience! We chose the lunch inclusion over the Silves city tour and happy we did! The wine and food we got to experience was excellent (and stories behind them). We visted the town of Silves on a different day. The two wineries we visited were different - each delivering their own twist on taste and quality. We really enjoyed the reds at Quinta do Frances, and in particular the Touriga Nacional. A full bodied red that is unique. The syrah was excellent as well. Great views from their patio as well. The second winery was the Convento do Paraiso which had beautiful whites and roses - in a beautiful old mill by the water (former convent). We were impressed by our guide Fabio (who owns the business) and the sharing of local information, history and family traditions. He was able to share many of the food creations and/or items we had at the lunch - the pan fried black pork was outstanding! The goat cheeses are fantastic as well. We went on this tour with another couple and a family member. We are experienced wine enthusiasts and the other three were "new" to the wine making area. Despite two signifcantly different backgrounds, Fabio did a great job making it all work (more in depth at time and providing a great overview for all to enjoy).

A fabulous way to see the beautiful hillsides of Alentejo, while learning about the local history, wineries, and their farming practices. We learned so much about the growing process, the types of grapes, and the opportunity to see the production process. Fabio is a treasure trove of the local stories and made for a wonderful day. This tour allowed us to interact with the local people, enjoy delicious food, and offer a special experience.

We had a wonderful experience, it was one of our favorite parts of our trip to Portugal! Fabio, our tour guide, picked us up and returned us to our condo after the tour, and he was incredible He was very friendly and knowledgeable, not only about the wine but the area we were visiting. We loved the fact that it was just the 4 of us in our group with him. The wines at each winery were very enjoyable, the lunch spot was incredible and the food fantastic. A great excusrsion, I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the Algarve. A visit to a small producer and then a visit to a larger commercial vineyard. Then a beautiful lunch in Silves. Fabio is an excellent guide, he has great knowledge of the area and the viticulture in the region.

Our wine tour day with Fabio was excellent. It was time well spent to see the area, learn about the terroir, local varietals and influences on the wine in this region.
