Remarkable site that was enhanced by a knowledgeable, well-spoken and fun guide. It was not physically taxing but the crowds were.
A big thanks for the review, Brad! Indeed, the Acropolis is absolutely "must-do," but the crowds can certainly be the most "taxing" part of the tour! We’re happy that our guide’s knowledge and sense of humor acted as the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle. It’s great to hear that their storytelling helped enhance the site's history without it feeling like a grueling workout. We’ll be sure to pass your kind words along to the team! Warmly, Athens Walking Tours Team
Excellent tour. Guide was very knowledgeable.
Short and sweet—just like a perfect Athens morning! What's better than knowing you found the tour excellent and that our guide’s knowledge helped bring the history of the Acropolis and the Agora to life. It is such a rich area to explore, and we're glad we could help you navigate it. We hope the rest of your stay in Greece is just as wonderful! Warmly, Athens Walking Tours Team
We booked the Acropolis of Athens & Acropolis Museum Tour and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our entire trip. Our guide Olesya was absolutely exceptional — knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate about the history she was sharing. Walking through the Parthenon with Olesya felt like stepping back through centuries of history. She has a remarkable ability to make the ancient world feel vivid and alive, weaving together stories and context that you simply wouldn’t get on your own. The museum portion of the tour was where she truly shone. Her depth of knowledge was impressive — she walked us through the collection in a way that was detailed without ever feeling like a lecture. By the end, we had a real sense of the Acropolis’s full story, from its earliest origins through to the present day. It felt immersive rather than informational. Olesya clearly takes great pride in her work, and it shows in every part of the experience. If you’re visiting Athens and want a tour that goes well beyond the surface, this is it — and if Olesya is available, don’t hesitate. She delivers something truly special. Highly recommend Athens Walking Tours. We’ll be back.
What a glowing review! "Immersive rather than informational" is exactly the experience we strive for, and we’re so proud that Olesya made the ancient world feel vivid for you. Making the museum feel like a journey through time rather than a lecture is her specialty, and we’ll be sure to share your kind words with her. It is wonderful that she could help you connect the dots between the ruins on the hill and the masterpieces in the gallery. We can't wait to welcome you back for another chapter of history! Warmly, Athens Walking Tours Team
The acropolis is an amazing venue, it dominates the city and is a must see. Our tour included the Agora which on hind sight was a good decision. The Acropolis itself is awe inspiring, just the sheer scale of the building and the complex. It was great to have a tour guide who met us outside and took us through the history of the building and also what many of the symbols meant which made the experience much more enjoyable. The Agora reminds me of the Forum in Rome, and without a guide it's just a bunch of ruins. This was an added extra which we're delighted we did with the tour as walking it alone would be very underwhelming. The restored museum was well worth a visit, it's not large but is a recreation of the building that stood on the premises and so gave a really great idea of the scale of the complex. Our guide was super friendly, able to answer any questions we or the group had. Delighted we chose them. Group size was manageable with about a dozen people but we all got headsets which seems to be the practice generally. Only negative is that by tacking on the Agora we didn't have as much time as we would have liked to take photos at the Acropolis. Top tips - it's busy in the Acropolis and was cool when we went there in April so bring warm clothes. The Agora is apparently unbelievably hot in mid summer by contrast. Also, make sure to have ID or a photo of ID for the kids as they get a large discount on entry but you can be asked to prove their age.
Thank you for the fantastic review! We are so pleased that you added the Ancient Agora to your itinerary. You are spot on, while the Acropolis is awe-inspiring on its own, the Agora truly requires a guide to peel back the layers of history and make those ruins speak. We’re glad the headsets and small group size made the experience easy to follow, and that our guide’s insights into the symbolism of the Parthenon added that extra depth to your visit. We appreciate the feedback regarding photo time; with so much history to cover in both sites, it can certainly be a whirlwind! Thank you also for sharing those "Top Tips" for fellow travelers—reminding families to bring ID for children is incredibly helpful. We hope to see you in Athens again! This was an excellent tour. Our guide was Ermes who had a very good knowledge of Ancient Greek history- the information was about right- neither too less, nor too much. Ermes was friendly and courteous , plus very knowledgeable. Would definitely recommended this tour to anyone who visits tge Acropolis and the ancient Agora
We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed the tour of both the Acropolis and the Ancient Agora! It is a pleasure to know that Ermes provided that perfect balance of information—keeping it deep and insightful without being overwhelming. Thank you for the high recommendation, Sandeep! Excellent tour! I wanted something that combined the Acropolis and the Agora, and this tour was perfect for that. We had an amazing guide - Vasiliki - who provided a well-structured tour without overly complicating the history of the site. The Agora - while obviously not as impressive - is in my opinion a must-see as well. The group size was small, the length of the visit was perfect, and we appreciated the receivers so we could hear her at all times.
Pam was really great. She had so many historical facts to give about the Acropolis and the Agora. She was also very kind to all of us as guests.
Omar, thanks for sharing your feedback! We're so glad you had an ideal tour with us. It's a delight to hear that Pam was so great and that you appreciated her knowledge and kindness. We'll be sure to pass on your praise. Hope to see you on your next trip to Athens!
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and we had a great experience learning more about what we were exactly looking at compared to just looking. Highly recommend going with a guide, ours was awesome! -Mitchell & Abby
Mitchell & Abby, thank you so much for sharing this! We couldn’t agree more — having a guide really does bring the whole experience to life, turning the stones and ruins into stories and meaning instead of just “looking.” We’re so glad you enjoyed learning and exploring with us, and that your guide made it awesome for you both. Hope Athens left you with memories as lasting as its history — we’d love to welcome you back anytime! Warm regards, Athens Walking Tours Team
A must go in Athens. I recommend the visit during the morning (if you go during the summer) as the heat is not too intense :)
Josimar, thank you for the great recommendation! We completely agree—morning visits in summer are the best way to enjoy the Acropolis and Agora comfortably before the heat sets in. We’re pleased you had a memorable experience! Warm regards, Athens Walking Tours Team
Gina was amazing and so helpful! I wish folks were more attentive to the information she was sharing. Be mindful of pickpockets!
