Our guide Juma was very attentive and great guide. Told us about local traditions and showed us around. Recommended us to visit when Ramadan is over to see the real Zanzibari live ☺️. Thank you again and highly recommend!
Thank you for your kind words. We’re glad to hear that Juma made your experience enjoyable and shared insights into our local traditions. Zanzibar has a unique atmosphere during Ramadan, and it becomes even more vibrant afterward, so his suggestion is very true. We appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you again to experience more of the authentic Zanzibari life.
Kassim provided a very insightful tour of Stone Town prior to going to Forodhani to try out the street food. At Forodhani, Kassim recommended trying a variety of fantastic dishes, starting with a Zanzibar pizza and sugar cane juice and ending with a crepe. I only wish that I had not had lunch as there was so much to try.
Next time, we recommend arriving with an empty stomach so you can fully enjoy everything on offer. We appreciate your feedback and hope to host you again soon.
Amazing way to see some of Stone Town and learn about local food. Juma was an outstanding guide who also helped us learn more about Ramadan and local traditions. The Zanzibar Mix soup was our favourite! So yummy. Would recommend this tour and Juma 10/10
Thank you for your kind review. We’re glad you enjoyed exploring Stone Town and learning about local food and traditions. It’s good to hear that Juma made the experience meaningful, especially sharing insights about Ramadan. We’re also pleased the Zanzibar Mix soup was a highlight for you. Your recommendation is appreciated, and we hope to welcome you again in the future.
The rooftop sunset drink was amazing and a perfect way to start the evening. The food selections were delicious and gave a great taste of local flavors. The only downside was the constant up and down trying to find a seat, which was a bit annoying, but that’s part of the lively food market atmosphere. Overall, it was a great way to experience Stone Town at night. Zahran was a good guide—knowledgeable about the dishes, the market, and even shared insights as a trained chef. Definitely recommend for anyone wanting to explore the food scene with a local touch.
Thank you for your detailed review. We’re glad you enjoyed the rooftop sunset drink and the variety of local flavors—the lively atmosphere is part of what makes the market experience unique. It’s good to hear that Zahran enhanced your evening with his knowledge of the dishes and the market, as well as his chef’s insights. We appreciate your recommendation and hope you return to explore more of Stone Town’s food scene.
I thoroughly enjoyed my tour with Zahran, who made it such an interesting and enjoyable evening. In particular, Zahran is incredibly kind and generous and I couldn't believe all the food and drink that he provides as part of the tour. After a brief stroll around the Old Fort area, we stopped for sunset at a rooftop bar where I enjoyed a delicious cocktail. Then it was onto the lively and exciting food market. I wouldn't have know where to begin but Zahran chose certain sellers that he knew were good quality and introduced me to Urojo (mango soup), Zanzibar pizza, chicken shawarma and sugarcane juice. All absolutely delicious and so filling. Zahran was an exceptional guide and a very genuine person, just wanting to ensure his guests have the best time. I most certainly did, thank you Zahran

I loved walking through the market on a weekend! It was very busy but Zahran made us feel so comfortable and safe! He has a lot of knowledge on the history of stone town and Zanzibar as he is a local himself! I would highly recommend the tour also it’s not too long (2-3 hours ) max
Our guide Juma was great with communication on WhatsApp making our connecting at the meeting point seamless. We started with a walk through the Old Fort. Then enjoyed rooftop drinks with a sunset pic. This time allowed us to ask our guide questions. We love food, and when Juma told us his history as a chef for several years we asked about his favorite local dishes and how to cook them. Later we made our way to the bustling night food market. Juma constructed a menu of unique local food from vendors carefully chosen for good taste and high food hygiene standards. We had amazing courses for trying new foods like a favorite local soup filled with delicious ingredients, Zanzibar pizza, and delicious fresh chicken shawarmas. We topped it off with refreshing hand-pressed sugarcane juice, with lime and ginger flavor. Our bellies were happy and full then we went back to get our son the ice cream rolls.
it was better than the description. We had a nice walk around the center and heard something about the history, rooftop bar visit before we ended up at the food market. Where we got a lot more food than just tastings
Great tour. Informative . Great guide. Not too long,or too much for. Very informative and nice guide.
Overall this is a good tour that will allow you to taste a few different local dishes and experience the ever-lively food market in Stone Town. However, our group did not get to view the sunset from atop a high roof of a bar as promised in the description. Also, there was not much walking, we were just seated at the seaside and the guide kept bringing us different dishes. I guess maybe I just expected a little more...
