A crap experience

Installing solar cover I was either placed on my own on tours who with full Spanish-speaking members of the group. This made a very difficult for the guide to share with me as he spent 90% of the time speaking in Spanish. In meals, I was sat on my own for every meal breakfast dinner and lunch was held in camp Yet there are many other English speaking groups who are more than happy for me to join them? It made for a very disappointing way of engaging and meeting people. I died. PATRICK created a very dangerous situation for me on day three when it was raining extremely heavily walking through rocks and extremely slippery terrain. He wanted to get to a waterfall and he left me behind and I never saw him for a good 25 to 30 minutes and returned to my own.

Dear Neil, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry to read about your experience and sincerely regret that your time in the Amazon did not meet the standards we strive to provide. We would like to begin by apologizing for the language barrier you experienced during the tours. Our intention is always to ensure that every guest feels included, informed, and comfortable. Being placed in a predominantly Spanish-speaking group without proper accommodation is not the experience we want any of our guests to have, and we fully understand how isolating this must have felt—especially during meals and group activities. Regarding the incident on day three, we are especially concerned. Guest safety is our absolute priority, and it is unacceptable for any guest to feel left behind or unsafe under any circumstances. We have spoken directly with the guide involved, who has acknowledged that there was a lapse in personal organization on that day. He has expressed his sincere apologies to you for the situation and for the distress it caused. As a direct result of your feedback, we will be reinforcing our internal training and supervision processes with all of our guides, with a strong focus on guest safety, group management, communication, and decision-making in challenging weather conditions. Our goal is to ensure that situations like this do not happen again. Your feedback is invaluable to us, even when it is difficult to hear, as it helps us identify where we must improve and grow as a company. We sincerely apologize for the disappointment this experience caused and truly appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention. Should you be open to it, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly and address this more personally. Kind regards, Santiago Morales General Manager The Live Ecuador Travel Group

An amazing experience in the Amazonia

A couple of weeks ago, we had the opportunity to visit Ecuador and do the all-inclusive tour. What a wonderful experience!!! Santiago was our guide, he is very knowledgeable, kind and fun. Everything about this tour was well planned, interesting and of great quality. Every day we did something different than the day before. It was a lot of exploring and discovering. Just whinsical! We recommend the tour and mainly we recommend Santiago.

SuchiPakari, a pretty ecolodge, but does not provide enough food for their guests!!!

We bought this 4-night package for an all-inclusive stay at Suchikapari and have four full days of activities in the Amazon jungle. The tours and activities were wonderful, the tour guide Brian really paid personal attention to our group and is a very personable young man. We really enjoyed having him as our tour guide and we would highly recommend him to anyone interested in taking a tour from this company to request him. The resort itself is very nice and the food quality is good, but they do not provide enough food at dinner for the guests. They serve buffet style with 5-6 trays of entrees, but once these trays are emptied, that’s it, there are no refills. I saw plenty of guests finally complaining on my third night there, and we finally decided to complain as well to add weight to our voices. It backfired badly because the next night (our fourth and last night being there), they decided to plate our dinner and served all the guests at their table instead of doing buffet style. Each person is given a half bowl of onion soup, which was salty but edible, and a plate with a meager portion of sad-looking salad, two small pieces of flattened fried chicken, a side of white rice and four wheels of fried plantains. Oh, and don’t let me forget, a small piece of flan that didn’t taste like flan. I am deeply disappointed in the manager, does he not understand the power of a TripAdvisor review???? If we were able to call UberEats or Doordash, it wouldn’t be so bad. But we are literally in the middle of the Amazon rainforest, there is nowhere to go eat except at this one-and-only open air buffet/dinner on-site, and if they think they are almighty and powerful to retaliate by serving their guests dinner this way tonight, I hope they go out of business soon. I am glad I brought granola bars from the US with me so at least I have something to fill in until the morning. Other small inconveniences worth mentioning is that the water pressure is rather lacking, so taking a shower when everyone else is might reduce you to a trickle of water, because that happened to me on two separate days. The entry door has a huge gap on the bottom, so we get a few giant cockroaches, beetles and several small unidentifiable flying insects everywhere every night, we got bitten badly the first night’s sleep. After that, we slept with long sleeves and long pants so we wouldn’t get bitten again. If I can give separately 10 stars to the activities and tour guide Brian, I would! If I can give 1 star to SuchiPakari, I definitely would!!!! The one star is because the resort is actually nice looking, but the lack of sufficient food is simply unbelievable!!!

Dear Guest First of all, we would like to sincerely thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review about your recent stay in the Amazon. We are truly glad to read that the activities, the lodge environment, and especially your guide Brian made such a positive impression on your experience. He is indeed a valued member of the team, and we will make sure your kind words reach him. Regarding the concerns you raised about the food and other details, we have already communicated your comments directly to Suchipakari Lodge, one of our main partners in the Amazon, with whom we have built a long-standing relationship. It is important to mention that this lodge usually receives very positive feedback — particularly about the quality of their meals, the beauty of the place, and the variety of tours they provide. That said, we truly regret that your dining experience did not meet expectations. We would like to clarify that the tour package you booked does not specify buffet-style meals. During your first two nights, you coincided with a special group that had requested buffet service, and you were kindly invited to enjoy this format at no additional cost. On the following nights, the service returned to the regular menu style. Nevertheless, we have asked the lodge management to carefully review your observations about food quality and quantity, and to immediately take them into consideration for improvement. We also noted your feedback about the water pressure and the door gap in your room. These details, along with your comments about insects and comfort at night, have been shared with the lodge so that they can take prompt corrective action. Your comments are very valuable for us because they help both our company and our partner lodges to improve. We hope you keep the wonderful memories of your Amazon adventures and the excellent guiding service you received, while trusting that the issues you pointed out are being addressed so that future guests have an even better experience. Thank you again for choosing us for your Amazon journey. Warm regards,

Interesting jungle trek. Unpleasant accommodations. Communication Lacking

We completely enjoyed our 2 days of excursions with David, our local guide. He was knowledgeable, friendly and lots of fun. The ride back to Quito was a long, long trip, due to the mountain pass being closed because of a landslide. Half way to Quito we had to turn around, go back to almost the beginning of our drive and take another route. Our driver, Santiago, drove through the night back through Tena, down to Banos, and up to Quito airport to get us to a flight at 8:30am. What would have been a 4 hour ride, turned into almost a 14 hour trip. Santiago was very professional, kind and determined to get us where we needed to go. We were very thankful for him. However, I have some comments that need to be said. I gave the experience only 3 stars for the following reasons: 1. We were picked up at 4:30 am in Quito at our hotel. We didn't know at the time, this was because of the landslide, and traffic passing through the area only during specified hours. (we figured this out over the next couple of days) At 9:00am we were dropped off at a coffee shop in Tena and told a taxi would take us to the lodge. About 20 minutes later a taxi came, asked us what lodge we were staying at. We had no idea about the lodge name, only the town. None of the travel details showed a name of the accommodation. 2. We took the taxi, only because the driver had a version of my name in an email. He drove us about 45 minutes to the lodge. There we were dropped off at a sign, and a fellow with a wheel barrow came to take our luggage down a long path to the main reception. When we arrived there at 10:30am no one greeted us, no one knew our names, no one told us what to expect next. We were in the middle of nowhere, with no clue what was going on. Only a couple of staff were there and no other guests. Eventually someone gave us a room key and told us to come back at 1:00 for lunch. Someone should have greeted us and explained our itinerary for the next 3 days. After dinner we met our guide, David, who provided the outline. 3. We were at the SuchiPakari Jungle Lodge. The room was smelly from dampness and septic. There were no screens to allow us to open the doors or windows at night to let a breeze in. Now the room was smelly and stuffy. The towels had holes and stains in them. The sheets were lumpy and old also. I was not confident that the bed spread or pillows had been washed in some time, as they smelled also. (After returning home, I looked up the lodge on line. The photos show much brighter, pleasant looking rooms). The table clothes in the dining room were dirty. They were not changed the entire time we were there. White wine was served at room temperature, The waiter didn't understand why we wanted chilled wine. There was no 'expert mixologist' at the bar (as stated on their website), not even a bar tender. We had to find someone who could get us a beer. 4. There seemed to be no one to talk to about our return trip to Quito. We asked our guide, David, to help us with the conversation and translation in order to plan it. He got the ball rolling and eventually the plan was for Santiago to drive us all the way to Quito. There needed to be much better communication about what to expect for this 4 day trip to the Amazon. Of the 4 days, 2 were all travel. We did not understand about the problems with the landslide in the mountains, and travel taking so much longer. We should have known the name of our lodge, someone should have welcomed us when we arrived and provided information about our activities for the next 3 days.

Dear Guest We are glad you and your friend Rachel (like the other commentarie) found Community guides as knowledgeable, helpful and too familiar. as they really care a lot about taking care of guests, as they help to protect their culture. They know the local area better than anyone. On the other hand, we are worried about your comments regarding our organization. When you are searching the jungle tour, you can see the name of our Jungle Lodge, then when you book the tour, in your voucher service is the name of our Jungle Lodge. So you can know were you going to travel. But, yes our driver in tena city knows your name and you can arrive to our lodge. Our english staff, not was available when you arrived to the lodge, because your check in time was more earlier than normal time In the afternoon, you meet with David and he explain about the all activities that you enjoy during the trip. Because for the inconvenients in the highway, ou arrived very earlier to our lodge, We really sorry for the inconvenients before you arrive to the lodge. we cannot foresee the landslide in the mountains. that's why we had to change your time for departure from quito and the same when you returned to Quito. Normally in other places when you visit and if is a natural problems the tours can be cancell and you can lost everything. With us, this not happend Inclusive with these natural problems, we have a equipment that can drive all the night for you can be in the airport. We are continually trying to improve our services and to prepare the staff for showing the beautiful jungle we protect. We really appreciate your comments, and we will take them into account to continue improving our services. Please feel free to contact us, we will be glad to change your perspective of our deep community effort Santiago Morales Senior Product Manager
