Unser fachkundiger Reiseleiter wird Ihnen während unserer Tour durch den Nationalpark faszinierende Fakten über die Geographie und Geschichte des Vulkans sowie interessante Fakten erzählen. Wir erreichen den Hauptkrater, wo Sie die türkisfarbene Lagune und Fumarolen bewundern können und Zeit haben, spektakuläre Fotos zu machen. Anschließend haben Sie freie Zeit, um Playa Negra, eine atemberaubende Vulkanformation, zu erkunden. Wir fahren weiter in Richtung des wunderschönen und malerischen Orosí-Tals, umgeben von wunderschönen Bergen, einer Vielzahl von Kulturen wie Kaffee, Zuckerrohr und anderen, die während der Kolonialzeit eine der wichtigsten Einrichtungen waren und Zeuge verschiedener historischer Ereignisse waren durchgeführt durch Piratenangriffe, Erdbeben, Überschwemmungen sowie die Transzendenz der mit der Evangelisierung betrauten Franziskanerorden und Pioniere bei der Errichtung der ersten katholischen Tempel des Landes. Dieser Zwischenstopp ist ideal für Pflanzenliebhaber, um schöne Fotos zu machen und eine friedliche Atmosphäre zu genießen, bevor wir unsere Tour fortsetzen.
Wir werden ein köstliches Mittagessen im Restaurant Casona Del Cafetal genießen, das sich auf einem wunderschönen Grundstück mit Blick auf den großen Cachí-See befindet. An dieser Haltestelle können wir auf den Wegen des Anwesens spazieren gehen und die wunderbaren Wege genießen, die uns zu den Kaffeeplantagen führen und verschiedene Perspektiven auf den See. Dieser See ist ein künstlicher See, der vom National Institute of Electricity angelegt wurde, um die Gemeinde Cartago mit Wasserkraft zu versorgen.
Zum Abschluss und nach dem köstlichen Mittagessen haben wir eine geführte Besichtigung der wichtigsten Kirche Costa Ricas, der Basilika der Engel. Diese Kirche ist als Hauptquartier der Wallfahrt bekannt und auch für ihre Geschichte über die Jungfrau der Engel. In der Kirche wird uns unser Führer über den Stein der Entdeckung erzählen und auch die Details des Museums erklären, wir Wir werden das Innere der Kirche besichtigen und auf Wunsch auch Weihwasser trinken.

I had the opportunity to visit several important places on the tour, especially the Irazú Volcano and the Orosi Valley. Breakfast was good and transportation was good. However, I did not have the opportunity to spend enough time in each location as many places were included in one day. The experience would have been more enjoyable if there had been more time at some of the stops.All in all, it was a good trip, but a little slow.

Had a great time. Driver and tour guide were both bilingual and very personable. Driver made it a point to keep the van tidy - van itself was modern and in very good condition. Every stop had excellent service. I had forgotten my phone in the van after drop off and they returned it quickly. As the locals say, pura vida.

This trip is a whole adventure... I must first say that it is completely worth it! The visit to the church, the volcano WOW! The garden was a great surprise! The food was spectacular! The day started off difficult... terrible tour companions! I acknowledge the good decision of the guide to remove them from the tour since their attitude was terrible! Hayro the guide is a 100/10!

It’s an activity well worth the money with an outstanding guide like Hayro! Hayro’s vast knowledge of all locations visited was truly impressive. His pride in his country and being able to so eloquently share this with tourists make him a perfect travel guide. The volcanoes were shrouded in fog at the time of visit but the visit at Lancaster and the lunch at Lake Cachi more than made up for the weather situation around the volcanoes. We can highly recommend this day trip.

I had an absolutely fantastic time on this day trip. The overall vibe was scenic and perfectly relaxing—we never felt rushed, which allowed us to truly take in the surroundings. A huge part of what made the day so special was our guide, Eric. He was phenomenal, sharing great insights into the local history and geography. I was particularly impressed by his deep knowledge of the plants during our walk through the botanical garden. Our driver, David, was also top-notch—courteous, professional, and a very safe driver, which made for a stress-free journey. To top it all off, the included lunch was splendid. We were served a delicious, traditional Costa Rican Casado that really hit the spot. Between the excellent pacing, the brilliant staff, and the great food, this tour is complete value for money. Highly recommend!

This tour was very well organized overall and packed a lot into a single day. Transportation logistics ran smoothly, lunch had a beautiful view, and the guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and informative throughout the experience. Lankester Gardens was especially beautiful and ended up being my favorite stop of the day. That said, there were a few things that made the experience feel less impressive than expected. I was the first passenger picked up, so the morning started extremely early and included a long period of collecting other travelers before the tour fully began. The tour is marketed as a “4-in-1” experience, but one of the stops is simply the restaurant where lunch takes place, so in practice it felt more like three actual sightseeing destinations. The lunch location itself was beautiful and enjoyable, but I think the itinerary description could set expectations more clearly. Visitors should also know that the Irazú volcano craters have been dry since 2019, despite some promotional photos giving the impression of blue crater lakes. Additionally, weather conditions meant there was almost no visibility at the volcano that day — not the guide’s fault, of course, but still something future travelers should consider. Because of the long driving times, each stop felt relatively short. While the locations were nice, most did not feel especially unique compared to other mountain and nature destinations in Latin America, with Lankester being the exception for me. Overall, it was a pleasant and efficient way to see several places in one day, but I think expectations should be set more accurately regarding timing, visibility, and the overall experience.

Even so, the area continues to be one of Costa Rica’s most visited national parks because of its landscapes, elevation, and surrounding scenery.
