There are plenty of good activities included. Early morning starts - 4 or 5 am. The accommodation is comfortable but a bit basic. No hot water and the water was definitely cold rather than luke warm so we were pleased to get back to hot showers! Everything is weather dependent and you have to be prepared to accept that. Also electricity is only available around meal times so you do need a good torch - one to go round your head for night walks would be good but you also need a torch at 4am as you might not want to use your phone battery. We didn’t take walking boots and got away with trainers as it wasn’t very wet underfoot. The food was very good and a very sociable time. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and determined to find as many flora and fauna as possible to show us. There was a swimming pool for downtimes.
This was such a cool (but hot) experience! The lake trip with all the different animals was the highlight, but the other activities were also great. We stayed 2 nights, which felt just right. 3 would have felt a bit long.
Thanks very much for your feedback! We are glad you enjoyed your tour! Best regards!
Very well planned and we loved our tour guide Franklin! He was very knowledgeable and make the trip fun. Saw many native animals in the day of Lake Sandoval.
This trip to the rain forest and the boat ride to lake Sandoval was very nice. We thoroughly enjoyed this experience of staying in the forest under the mosquito curtains at night with birds screeching and insects making a lot of noise at night. We would get up very early, get ready by flashlight and leave for our excursions very early in the morning and experience the sunrise when we were still in the boat going to different places in the forests nearby. The highlight of this portion of the trip was the canopy skywalk among the treetops, and the ziplining which was thrilling and unique at this place. This was a great and unique experience on our trip.
The tour was awesome. Franklin is the best guide for this tour. I really like it, worths the time and money. Anything bad to say.
This was one of the best experiences of my trip in South America! Our guide was called Franklin. He was amazing, so knowledgeable, considerate and the best guide to have. He really made our experience so much better and I can’t thank him enough. The activities were all great, it was a great pace and amazing to get to see the nature and animals in their natural habitat. The accommodation and food was great. Met some amazing people and made memories of a lifetime.
I can’t rave enough about this! Our guide Franklin was absolutely incredible, what a great guy, so knowledgeable, funny, helpful, just the best guide we could’ve hoped for and he made the whole experience incredible. There was kayaking in the river, night boat trips to spot animals, feeding a wild monkey out of my hand, a canopy walk, zip lining, river fishing, the Tambopata National Reserve, honestly the list goes on and on. It somehow managed to not feel rushed even though we fit so much in and I can only put that down to Franklin. The accommodation is great, it’s basic and has everything you need, the food is delicious, and we were fortunate enough to be with a great group of people as well. Definitely book, I’d recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat
We had a great time in the Amazon. We’ve experienced all aspects of the Rainforest. We have been very lucky in spotting animals, but our very knowledgeable guide Ronal has undoubtedly played an important role in this. The accommodation was also fine and the staff were very helpful. We definitely recommend this tour!
The customer service is awful. We notified the company 45 days in advance of the tour to make arrangements to change the dates or get a refund since our flights changed. The company told me once it's booked nothing can be done and pointed me to there "no refund" page. It seems they just want to keep our money regardless of a situation outside the customers control with significant advance notice.
There were some outstanding and amazing aspects of this trip, and there were some disappointing and mismanaged aspects. It’s so hard to rate because I give the guide who was with us and took us on all our excusions a 6/5. He was outstanding. The time we spent with him was really amazing. We saw all kinds of wildlife tons of wild monkeys, river otters, even a three toes sloth in a tree! We explored the river and forest night and day. It felt very special and I appreciated the guide and the group so much. However, the logging staff compound (a property of about 25 bungalows, a dining hall, pool, etc) was just so lackluster and rude. They’re clearly over worked, under staffed, and it left them with a sense of annoyance and avoidance with us. We were not greeted warmly and were turned down three different times over the few days we were there from getting a cocktail at the “bar”. There was a huge sign advertising drinks, but no wanted to help us. I felt like a nuisance on my vacation! The main girl was just cold, distant, wouldn’t speak back to me at all. After talking to another staff member, It seems like the company is aware and doesn’t care to make any changes. It’s sad because the property is AMAZING! Beautifully cares for, plants and flowers, magical sun sets, sprawling retreat type center. When I got to the office before being transported to the compound the woman took down my dietary needs carefully and was super nice about it. When I got there, they couldn’t really accommodate anything beyond vegetarian or not so there is no asking for chicken and fish but no beef. They seemed to always be rushed and avoidant and when we asked they would seem annoyed. The most scummy part of this company was the transport back to the city. This itenerary includes activities in the morning before being returned at noon. That is what we paid for. Yet, the night before we left our tour guy told us that there’s a problem that the company would only pay for a boat in morning and at night so we had to skip the last morning activities and go back to the city at 8 AM because we were not leaving until 4:40 PM from Puerto Maldonado but the only other boat was at 4 PM. They said that we could also pay for a separate boat to take us back if we wanted to do the morning activities and I felt like that was very exploitive. It was 200 soles, and they wanted cash. So basically I could’ve either missed out on zip lining and I can if you walk or paid more money to be taken back at a reasonable time. Even though the itinerary on this website specifically says make sure your flight out is after 1 PM which indicates that they would understand that they need to take us back to the city if we have a half day of excursions on our last day. We were also told they were not going to feed us lunch that last day but somehow our tour guide worked out a deal with them last minute. Shady. It’s a shame because I hate complaining like this but I felt taken advantage of and I also felt like the company is well aware and doesn’t care. We were told that the company only pays for two boats a day morning and get our itinerary advertised a midday departure. Would love to give this experience five stars, it was absolutely beautiful from a nature perspective and we made the best of it. I feel viator should consider speaking with this group about the departure times, or warn consumers that they may need to pay (and bring enough cash to pay) for a boat back.
