Besuchen Sie den gigantischen goldenen schlafenden Buddha im Butsuganji-Tempel sowie den Hügel des Buddha, eine Fusion aus moderner Kunst und alter Religion, werden Sie sehen, wie die Menschen in Sapporo ihre Spiritualität und Kreativität gemeinsam zum Ausdruck bringen. Nach dem Mittagessen werden Sie bei einem Besuch der Innenstadt von Sapporo, einer Fahrt auf den berühmten Fernsehturm und einer Sake-Verkostung in einer kleinen lokalen Bar die säkulare Seite dieser nordjapanischen Stadt kennenlernen.

Bei der Ankunft im Butsugan-ji (Schlafender/liegender Buddha) werden Sie optisch von der 45 Meter langen Buddha Nirvana Statue getroffen, die in Ruhe horizontal auf dem Dach der Großen Nirvana Tempelhalle ruht/liegt. Dieser erstaunliche Ort gilt heute als einer der stärksten spirituellen Kraftorte in ganz Japan. Viele Besucher kommen aus ganz Japan und der ganzen Welt. Neben dem Buddha können Besucher den schönen Jodo Pure Land Garden mit einem sehr authentischen japanischen Design sehen. In der Nähe gibt es einen Teich und einen Wasserfall mit reinem sauberem Wasser. Es gibt alte rein saubere Gartenfelsen verstreut über den Garten. Die Menschen kommen in diesen Tempel nicht nur wegen seines schönen Ambientes, sondern auch wegen seines mächtigen spirituellen Bereichs.
Diese Buddhastatue aus Stein ist von einer Rotunde umgeben, die sich auf einem sanft abfallenden künstlichen Hügel innerhalb des zu einem Friedhof gehörenden Landes befindet. Er ist 13,5 Meter hoch und wiegt 1500 Tonnen. Wenn man sich ihm von weitem nähert, vermittelt der einsame Kopf des Buddha, der aus dem Inneren der Rotunde guckt, einen feierlichen, heiteren Eindruck des Buddha. Der Eingang zum Buddha hat einen Wassergarten, den Besucher normalerweise umrunden. Danach gehen Sie durch einen bogenförmigen Betontunnel, an dessen Ende die Buddha-Statue steht, in der Mitte einer offenen Rotunde, die Sonnenlicht hereinlässt. Die kreisförmige Öffnung der Rotunde mit einströmendem Licht verleiht der Buddhastatue fast ein „haloartiges“ Gefühl. Auf jeden Fall eine herrliche Stätte zu sehen! Ein „Must Visit“ zu jeder Zeit des Jahres.
Anschließend kehren wir ins Zentrum von Sapporo zurück und besuchen The Sapporo T.V. Turm. Erbaut 1957, ist er 147,2 Meter hoch. Dieser Turm wurde von Tachu Naito entworfen und gebaut, einem japanischen Architekten, der auch für die Planung des Tokyo Tower berühmt ist. Wir fahren hinauf zur obersten Aussichtsplattform, wo Sie spektakuläre 360-Grad-Tagesaussichten über die gesamte Stadt Sapporo genießen werden. Ihr Reiseleiter kann von der Aussichtsplattform aus auf verschiedene Himmelsrichtungen hinweisen und den Gästen mitteilen, welcher konkrete Standort das ist.
Unsere Tour endet an der Yata Sake Stand Bar. Dies ist eine gemütliche und malerische Standbar. Diese Bar wird oft von Einheimischen und Besuchern besucht. Es ist leicht zu wissen, warum. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und „kennt sich aus“, wenn es um Sake geht. Dies ist ein „Muss“ für alle, die Sake genießen und detailliertere Informationen über die verschiedenen Sake-Typen wissen möchten.

What a great tour with Scott! He is a wonderfully friendly, knowledgeable guide who took us to various sites including the Hill of the Buddha, a majestic site that you don't want to miss. It was great to hear in detail about its history and design elements, but also generally his insights from his 35 years living in Japan after moving from the US. Would highly recommend to anyone!
Talk to your guide..! Japan is more then sightseeing and food .. it’s the people that will make your visit wonderful
Scott was awesome and was very knowledgeable about the area. If you ask, he will make the Itinerary extra fun too! Easily got to and from the Statue and into Sapporo proper!
If you are visiting Sapporo for a few days, I highly recommend this day trip. I met Scott at the determined meeting spot and he was there waiting when I arrived on time. It turns out I was the only traveler who had booked the tour that day, so we left immediately and took public transportation. It was super easy and we were able to chat on a personal level which made it feel like traveling with a new friend. Hill of the Buddha was the obvious highlight and he was super insightful and gave me pointers on the best photo angles. Having a tour guide there made for a more meaningful experience. From there we headed back to Sapporo and proceeded to do a walking tour of the city. I’m not sure how a regular tour would have been with a full group , but it showed me he was willing to cater the trip to circumstances and my desires and interests. Top notch!
Although I was the only person on this tour, my guide Scott worked just as hard at making sure I had a fabulous time. In addition to the original itinerary that he crafted, which was fabulous (Buddha statue, sake tasting, et cetera), Scott further escalated my experience that day by leveling it up with various destinations including the Nakajima Park, the Odori Park, Shiryokan, and JR Tower Observatory. He also helped me shop for omiyage and truly went over and beyond..
Scott was such a great tour guide. He was fun and incredibly knowledgeable about the area. Navigating to all of our stops was a breeze, and not only did Scott provide great insight into the Hill of the Buddha, but to life in Sapporo and Japan in general. Scott also doubled as a personal photographer, he even knew all the best angles to get photos and certainly didnt mind stopping every 10 feet so I could take a picture. The sake at the end of the tour was just the icing on the cake. Highly recommend!

Besides Scott’s thorough knowledge of the sites we visited, we were able to share many laughs with him while reminiscing about the “good old days” in America.
