Our city guide Marcel was very good! We enjoyed that part of tour. We did not realize that the lake cruise was on the mini cruise boat and that we would not have our guide. We got in line early as Marcel informed us, but we did not realize how few seats were outside and we were actually bombarded by a group of school girls and pushed through us in line and all outside seats were taken. The ride was not completely around the lake and very crowded. Definitely a little disappointing, but a little insight from the guides on how few seats were outside and not letting groups push past would have been appreciated. Do you offer a guided trip of the lake? That would be preferable.
Seeing the beauty of Lake Zürich in light rain on a cloudy, overcast day is ethereal. I was still pleasantly surprised even without any sunshine.
Gonzalo was a terrific guide, we saw many highlights of Zurich at a good pace with no hassle. Learned a lot about the city and the sites in very enjoyable way. We loved the tram to Felsenzell, lake cruise walking tour, everything
Much of the highlights can be found online. It’s the personal knowledge of the guide that’s the game changer. You just have to stick closer with him for audio efficiency. Weather was a bit warm but our batch was patient enough to listen to our moving encyclopedia. Truly fun for first timers.
Great tour, Lars was incredible and made the tour fantastic, we actually went to the chocolate factory and not the fifa museum but besides that, it was incredible
My low rating is not for the tour itself as we were not able to join it, but rather for how rude and unprofessional the "Best of Switzerland Tours" company was. We arrived the morning our tour was booked for - our very first time visiting Switzerland and not familiar with anything yet. We arrived at 9am and the tour was not until 1pm. When it came closer to the tour time, we attempted to find the meeting point on our own by foot and were unsuccessful. Google maps kept leading us uphill. We rushed back to the hotel to see if our concierge could help us but saw the taxis upfront and decided to hop on so we wouldn't miss the tour. We asked him to take us to the main bus station - since this is where the tour listing info said the meeting point was at. Unfortunately he took us to the main train station first. We were confused and after some attempts in communicating where we wanted to go (he was a Middle Eastern man with broken English so that added to the time as we showed him the listing and pictures from google maps), he understood where we needed to go. We unfortunately arrived at 1:10pm. We ran up to the window of Best of Switzerland Tours and trying to catch our breath asked if the tour had left. Mind you, not once did we have arrogant, pompous or entitled attitudes. I was embarrassed and sad that we had arrived late. However I was NOT expecting the employee's behavior towards us. From the beginning she was staring at us with disgust, pointed to her watch and said you're 10minutes late the bus was waiting for you and they just left. When I told her what happened she continued looking at me with disgust and sour judgement and said "the main train station is just back there....you could have walked over here from there, it's a short walk". I was astonished by how rude she was. I continued to explain to her calmly that we just arrived that morning and were not familiar with where anything was yet. To that comment she shrugged her shoulders while giving us the "I don't care" look. I then asked if we could be put on another day's tour to which she said yes but we would have to pay full price again. I then asked if we could meet the group in Old Town since according to my Google maps it was a 13 min walk and that we could easily walk quickly over there. She said no that is not allowed. I am an avid traveller as I work for a major airline and have taken walking tours all over the world. Not ONCE has a tour company been SO unhelpful in trying to find some type of resolution. I was put off by how arrogant and rude she was and decided to email the company about our experience. They initially offered 20% if we booked for another day. Mind you, I already had another tour - also booked with their company - for the following day, an all day tour outside of Zurich. Sunday was my only option as we were leaving on Monday but I accepted. They did not offer this until Saturday - the day where I was on my all day tour. I leave my phone on airplane mode to save battery and do not get connected back to wifi until I am back at my hotel. Even though we arrived late from our all day tour, I still walked around the Christmas markets of Zurich for some time and arrived back to my hotel late. Upon checking my emails I was bombarded with several emails from Best of Switzerland Tours harassing me. They gave me FOUR hours to pay for the Sunday tour and because I was disconnected, they then canceled the offer altogether since I had not responded according to their ridiculous short time frame - even though I had previously already responded that yes I will book the Sunday tour for two. When I got the chance to respond that night they came back the following morning saying too late - and when I reiterated how horrible my experience had been with their company and have never in my life had such poor customer service they responded that they will not accept any slander against their employees. WHAT??? Utterly ridiculous and I truly hope they are one day looked into for their improper business conducts.
Dear wanderlustgal7, Thank you for booking with us and for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we deeply regret that you missed the tour. We completely understand that navigating an unfamiliar city can be challenging, especially on your first visit. That is why we recommend arriving 15 minutes prior to departure, as it gives us the chance to assist guests with directions and ensure a smooth start to the tour. We also include clear directions to the meeting point both on the Viator voucher and in Google Maps to make it easier for our guests to find their way. We wish you had reached out to us during the time you were having trouble locating the meeting point, as we are always happy to help with any issues that arise. The meeting point is only a 5-minute walk from the main train station, and we could have guided you directly to the correct location. Our policy does state that we can only delay the tour for up to five minutes after the scheduled departure time, as we need to respect the other guests who arrived on time. We hope you understand that in order to maintain fairness and schedule, we have to adhere to this policy. We are also sincerely sorry to hear that you felt the staff member you interacted with was disrespectful. Please know that this is absolutely not the standard of service we aim to provide. We will look into your comments and share it with the department to ensure that such situations are handled with the respect and professionalism our guests deserve. According to our cancellation policy, amendments or cancellations are only possible 24 hours prior to the tour’s departure. Please understand that by not joining the tour, your seats, which we could have sold to someone else, will remain empty. Nevertheless, we still have to pay in full all those non-used services/expenses inherent to your trip. Therefore, rescheduling for another day free of charge was not a possibility. Regarding rescheduling, we do have a cancellation policy that requires changes or cancellations to be made 24 hours prior to the tour departure. Unfortunately, due to the timing of your request and the nature of our operations, rescheduling for a different day without an additional charge was not possible. While we typically cannot offer discounts for missed tours, we did offer a 20% discount as a goodwill gesture, which is more than our standard policy allows. We require payment confirmation by 18:00 the day before to secure the new booking, as the seats are then released for other guests if not confirmed. Again, we truly regret that this experience was not a positive one for you, and we appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention. We will take your feedback seriously as we work to improve our services. We hope that despite this situation, you were able to enjoy the rest of your time in Switzerland and that we might have the chance to welcome you back in the future under better circumstances. Best regards, Magdalena de Best of Switzerland Tours
The guide was loud on the bus which was good when it came to the old town which she only walked us through one street we couldn’t hear her. We told her we couldn’t hear her and she said well that’s OK. The short time in old town maybe because the bus hit something during the driving part of the tour, which caused a small accident and our time was shortened After we walked to the dock and went on the boat ride, which is fine but the bus and the street tour was not what we expected. We felt cheated and it was not worth our money. I would never recommend this to anybody. We really had no information given to us about old town so it was a wasted tour we could’ve taken a city bus by ourselves and got more information without the expense of the tour
Dear Cynthia, Thank you for joining our Zurich with Lake Cruise tour and for taking the time to share your feedback. We are glad to hear that the guide’s commentary during the bus ride met your expectations and was easy to follow. We regret that this was not the case during the walking tour of the Old Town. As the route leads through lively city streets, background noise from traffic or construction can occasionally affect the clarity of the audio. To help with this, our guides use microphone systems to improve audibility. We are sorry to hear that this did not work effectively in your case, and we sincerely apologize if the guide’s response to your concerns came across as dismissive. Our tour is designed to provide a compact yet comprehensive overview of Zurich in a limited amount of time, with carefully scheduled stops. Unfortunately, we were unable to locate a booking under your name, so we could not verify if any incident occurred during your tour that may have shortened the Old Town visit. If there was an unexpected delay, we sincerely apologize for the impact it may have had on your experience. While it is of course possible to explore the city independently, many of our guests appreciate the convenience of a guided tour and the opportunity to ask questions and gain local insights along the way. We are truly sorry that your experience did not reflect the quality we aim to deliver, and that you left feeling disappointed. Please rest assured that we take all feedback seriously and will keep your comments in mind as we continue to review and improve our services. We hope you were still able to enjoy the scenic cruise and the beautiful views of the Swiss Alps, and we wish you a wonderful rest of your stay in Switzerland. Best regards, Magdalena from Best of Switzerland Tours
Tour leader was unorganized and not very engaging. Tour was a waste of time. The Lindt Chocolate Factory was not worth the visit. Would be better off just exploring the city on your own.
Dear Exploration44655, Thank you for joining our tour and for taking the time to share your feedback. We're genuinely sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations, particularly regarding the organization and engagement of the tour guide. Our tours are designed to provide a broad introduction to Zurich, with guides trained to deliver informative and interesting insights into Swiss culture, history, and everyday life. However, we understand that expectations and interests can vary from guest to guest. The Lindt Home of Chocolate is one of Zurich’s most popular attractions, and while it typically receives very positive feedback, we regret that it did not live up to your expectations in this instance. Although each location on the tour can indeed be visited independently, many of our guests opt for a guided experience to gain a deeper understanding of the city’s background and to benefit from the convenience and local knowledge our guides provide. We also understand that navigating an unfamiliar city via public transportation can sometimes be overwhelming, which is another reason guests appreciate our services. Despite the aspects that fell short for you, we hope you were still able to enjoy some moments of the tour, and that you continue to have a pleasant stay in Zurich. Best regards, Catarina from Best of Switzerland Tours
Its quite short tour and not much interesting information shared but the views are amazing! Captured tons of photos and videos.
Preordered the Best of Switzerland Tours, meeting at the Central Bus Station (around the corner from the tram, and train station). It took roughly over a half hour to meet everyone at 2:30 @Ausstellungsstrasse 15, after picking up the boat admission slip from the ticket booth. Via Messe Lindbergh-Platz or Glattbrugg a tram transfer or two was to be expected. We mostly rode the bus and were guided off of it at lake or cathedral stops. However, no Lindt chocolate factory was included; the choice was that or else the boat, but no clear instructions were given. (I normally have an impeccable sense of directions but that failed me too.) After wandering two piers—almost landing myself on a ferry, I managed to climb aboard the boat just in time for departure. A few tables were on the second floor, not enough for all of those who embarked; otherwise, people were basically standing outside on the deck in the rain for a good view. The lake cruise took about a half hour. It might have been the highlight of the tour, even without a guide. If you have no time for the busride, I would recommend seeing the city from the lake. The view from the shore doesn’t do it justice. Pack your own water (or umbrella), and enjoy the view!
