This is a must do when you come to Port Douglas. You get really up close to the animals and the kangaroos are super friendly! You even get to pat a koala with your picture taken. It’s also good to know part of the proceeds helps wild animals in Australia.
Wildlife Habitat is absolutely amazing, and I cannot recommend it enough if you are in the area. Not only were the birds and animals all amazing, all the staff was so sweet and kind to us. The birds were so beautiful, and it was nice that all the habitats were immersive, so the birds could be right next to you with no cage. I enjoyed feeding the kangaroos and the fish. Both the koala keeper talk and the crocodile feeding demonstration were extremely informative and enjoyable. It is also nice that there is a wildlife hospital on site. My family and I also did two experiences: feeding the crocodiles and the nocturnal walk. Feeding the crocodiles was absolutely amazing! My family and I got to feed crocodiles twice, and both times we felt extremely safe and well-guided. Again, the staff was so sweet and kind, and it was so fun to feed the crocodiles! The nocturnal walk was absolutely lovely, and it is 100% worth every dollar. We fed swallows, kangaroos, a tawny frogmouth, a cassowary, sugar gliders, and a quoll. We also were able to hold a native python and we even got lucky and saw a wild white-lipped tree frog. Our guide taught us so much about the animals we fed and the other animals in the Habitat, and it was truly an unforgettable night. Wine and a charcuterie board was included and delicious, especially eating it with a view of the sleepy koalas, which we got to pet after dinner. If I was ever in Port Douglas again, I would go straight back to Wildlife Habitat in a heartbeat!

We can't wait to welcome you back to Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas whenever you're next in the region! 🦜🐊🦘🌙💚
We loved this place. It's small enough that it won't take a whole day, but there is enough to see that you can spend a few hours here. We did the "Breakfast with the Birds" activity which was really fun (food was average but the birds and koalas are adorable). Love the free flight aviary with so many birds to see. Highly recommend a visit here if you are in the area.
Hi kiwisky, Thank you for your wonderful review and recommendation! We're delighted to hear you enjoyed your visit and found there was plenty to see during your time with us. It's great to know Breakfast with the Birds was a fun experience and that our beautiful free-flight aviary, birds and koalas were highlights of your day. The aviary is certainly one of our guests' favourite areas, offering a unique opportunity to connect with wildlife up close. Thank you again for visiting Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas. We hope to welcome you back if you're ever in the region again! 🦜🐨💚😊
Nice enough to visit, it was certainly very clean. We made the mistake of visiting the habitat, then returning a few days later for Breakfast With the Birds. The online photos for this experience show birds sitting on guests’ shoulders but this didn't happen, except for one offered photo op with JoJo the cockatoo. The birds were loose or on perches, and keepers would give talks on the various types. As Aussies, we see most of the bird species in the wild where we live. Food was a bit average, and one of the black cockatoos cased the tables and helped himself to scrambled eggs when he spied an unattended one. We had more bird interaction when we visited the habitat cafe a few days previously. It was a mistake to do Breakfast With the Birds separately, as it was extremely underwhelming and we left early. I felt sorry for the birds stuck in the cafe, JoJo has his blue pot with a “do not touch” sign, but kids being kids, they can’t resist and he gently nipped one which caused much screaming.
Hi 319vickis, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're pleased to hear you found Wildlife Habitat clean and enjoyed your earlier visit to the park. We're sorry to learn that Breakfast with the Birds didn't meet your expectations. The experience is designed to provide guests with the opportunity to enjoy breakfast in a unique free-flight environment while learning more about the birds from our wildlife keepers. As our birds are free to interact naturally, every visit can be a little different. We appreciate your comments and will share your feedback with our team as we continually review and improve our guest experiences. Thank you again for visiting Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas.
Great variety of animals and birds. Wonderful interaction with the safe animals (and staff!) Wonderful experience overall
This place doubles as a wild life rescue. The bird sanctuary sections are amazing.
Hi Charmaine, Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re so pleased you enjoyed your visit, especially the bird aviaries. There’s something pretty special about being surrounded by free-flying birds in such a natural setting. We’re also proud to support wildlife rescue and rehabilitation efforts where we can, so it’s lovely to hear that aspect of the park stood out to you as well. Thanks again for visiting Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas! 😊
A fantastic place to visit! The birds, animals etc are well looked after by very dedicated staff. Don’t miss the Cafe where the birds fly around as you have a coffee. Lots of shelter and not too far to walk.
Hi Deb, Thank you for your wonderful review and recommendation! We’re so pleased you enjoyed your visit and appreciated the care our team puts into looking after the animals and birds around the park. The café is definitely a special spot to relax while the birdlife moves freely around you 😊 We’re also glad you found the park comfortable and easy to explore. I signed up for Breakfast With The Birds. 90$NZ. BIRDS Great. Breakfast Worst
Hi Paul, Thank you for your feedback. We’re pleased to hear you enjoyed the bird interactions, though we’re very sorry the breakfast itself did not meet your expectations. The Breakfast with the Birds experience is something many guests enjoy, so we’re disappointed to hear the quality of the meal impacted your visit. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.
Wonder place to interact with the animals! Really loved it! Being able to feed the kangaroos and see the animals roam right at your feet is truly amazing!
We fed kangaroos, got our picture taken with a koala, watched the crocodiles being fed, saw amazing beautiful birds, and fed a female Cassowary banana slices! It was a relaxing day with friendly staff and it wasn’t crowded at all. We highly recommend the Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas!
