They only recently started opening up to tourists, so it is quite a niche experience. We were 3 and received a private Tour through the vinery and had the most amazing traditional moldovian lunch. Our tour guide maria was amazing, she knew everything about the place. She is a master educated vine maker so she really knows what she is talking about it. We received very nice vines to drink and she poured multiple glases so no one left thirsty. After we booked the tour, maria contacted us on whatsapp to align on a start time for the tour. The vinery is super cool and soviet style so very exciting. I would definetly recommend this tour!!
I do not know where to start because this was one of the most authentic, special experiences my husband and I have ever had travelling. We came to Moldova on a whim and I booked this tour last minute. We were greeted by the lovely Maria who gave us the tour of the rustic winery. It’s not the high season so we were the only ones there. Maria is very knowledgeable and passionate about wine and the winemaking process. But it was the genuine friendliness of her and the staff that made us feel we were in a special place and visiting old friends. For lunch, we got to eat a delicious spread of meat and local cuisine prepared by the lovely cook. And the wine, the star of the show, was exceptional. No flair, no vanity, just wine produced by people who take winemaking seriously. They are humble and happy to talk about their passion, their livelihood. They are traditional, yet not afraid of new ideas. The one thing that I thought was brilliant, was the way this small winery is the heart of the community (a village outside of Chisinau). It is a collaborative relationship that is essentially a family. I am so glad this opportunity popped up in the search for ‘things to do in Chisinau’. Please, if this comes up in your feed, do not hesitate to purchase a ticket for the most authentic experience, especially if you appreciate the specialness of winemaking. Thank you again Maria and the staff at Doina Vin!
