Det første stop på din Taipei halvdagstur er det verdensberømte National Palace Museum, som også er et af verdens største museer. Med en samling på næsten 700.000 stykker af gamle kinesiske artefakter og kunstværker, viser museet 8.000 års kinesisk kunsthistorie spænder over flere dynastier. To af de mest berømte kunstværker på udstillingen er "Jadeite Cabbage" og "the Meat-Shaped Stone", som er must-see i National Palace Museum.
Næste stop er Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, et imponerende monument til minde om den afdøde præsident for Republikken Kina, Chang Kai-shek. For at komme til hovedhallen skal du klatre op i 89 trin, som repræsenterer Chang Kai-Sheks alder, da han døde. Her finder vagtskiftet sted hver time på timen fra 09: 00 i hovedhalen.

Templet blev bygget i 1738 og dedikeret til Guanyin (gudinden for barmhjertighed). Templet blev alvorligt beskadiget under Taipei luftangreb, men statuen af Guanyin overlevede angrebet. Foruden gudinden for barmhjertighed, templet dedikerer Yue Lao (matchmaker gud), Wenchang Dijun (litteratur gud), Songzi Niangniang (pigen, der bringer børn) og mange flere. Pick the hotel pick up option. The taxi driver could not find the meeting location. That park is awfully small and didn’t appear on his gps. He dropped us a good 10 minutes walk away based on the address and we missed the tour. A lady at a convenience store was kind enough to direct us but it was too late. Should be listed as the subway station exit #2 instead of all those confusing numbers. Made it sound like a big transit hub to a foreigner. We ended going by ourselves to the Palace Museum. Much better experience without the hassle of the time constraints. Gave us time to buy some beautiful souvenirs. There was no week ahead restriction for the tickets to enter the museum. Rated this low because I paid and got nothing for it. Lesson learnt

Edison Tour Company and Viator are excellent. Teresa the greeter/guide, saw me walking up to the meet point and greeted me right away, I did not have to ask, Teresa is terrific! James the tour guide is very knowledgeable, speaks English and showed things and explained history that I would not have seen and heard without him and Edison Tours
I took this tour on an extended layover in Taipei as I wanted to make the most of my time and see the city. This half day tour was perfect and included three cultural stops. The National Palace Museum is huge and houses so many artifacts that it would be hard to see them all. Our tour guide was able to show us the most valuable and important pieces and provide history and stories behind them. We were able to see the changing of the guard at Memorial Hall and visit the beautiful Longshan Temple. James our tour guide was a wealth of knowledge and kept us on time. This tour is great for anyone pressed for time that wants a taste of Taipei.
