The Sydney Street Art & Food Tour was a fantastic way to explore Newtown, one of Sydney’s most diverse and interesting neighborhoods. Our tour guide, Andrew, was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the walk both exciting and informative. He took us through colorful streets filled with amazing murals, local stories, and hidden gems that we would never have found on our own. The food was also excellent. My favorite was the plant-based tacos at Vandal Taqueria. They were absolutely mouth-watering! The tour offered a great mix of street art, local culture, and delicious food. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to experience a different side of Sydney beyond the usual tourist attractions.
A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. With so many positive reviews I was desperate to do this tour. Normally when we arrive at your destination we like to take time to check our bearings and investigate. However with the time frame being as it was we had to just jump in and book for the afternoon of our arrival in Sydney. And boy was I glad that we did. It was the perfect start to our Sydney stay. The tour delivered all that it promised. Our guide, Melinda was the perfect guide. Knowledgeable, informative and friendly. As there were only 5 of us on the tour it was almost a private tour. With regards the street art I came away with a greater understanding and appreciation. All the food offerings were excellent and ticked all the boxes, catering for all tastes. I think my husband was particularly fond of the first stop at the pie shop and would have returned for dessert pie if he could have. For me it was the Turkish ice cream shop - the last stop. They were so patient as I tried several flavours - I'm particularly drawn to unusual ones. Sure there was one involving feta! Certainly fig. We also enjoyed the beer flights and could have spent longer there. The area is very hippy and reminded me of San Francisco's Haight Ashbury. We could quite happily have spent longer there but having concerns about finding our way back to the city had to grab the first taxi we saw. In short a must do; simply the best.
Had a great tour of Newtown with Andrew He was really knowledgeable and interacted with the group well. Food and brewery finish was great. And he recommended some places to visit in Newtown… which we did the next day. Would definitely recommend this tour!
Really enjoyed Andrew our guide who showed us signature Street Art in Newtown a suburb of Sydney. We also did sweet and savory food and a beer stop. A nice way to experience life outside of central Sydney.
This tour exceeded my expectations. The balance of cultural history, street art insights, and food tastings was informative and thoughtfully curated. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and delivered everything with clarity, enthusiasm, and a genuinely engaging style. I came away with a deeper appreciation of the area and its stories. A memorable and worthwhile experience.
Really enjoyed this tour. Andrew was a great host/ tour guide. He inter grated with us all very well and food was great. His knowledge of the local artists and artworks made the tour so interesting. Thank you Andrew and we will be going to another venue recommended in the tour tomorrow 😎
Normally we like to find our bearings and settle in before booking any tours when we arrive in a new city. However with the street art and food tour only being available that Sunday afternoon and having read so many favourable reviews we decided it was a no brainer. Of course with it having the incentive of price and food offerings which would suit both of us (hubby can be fussy but what he did not want knowing I would eat) as well as street art then we just had to do it. And I am most certainly glad we did. Our guide Melinda was excellent being friendly and knowledgeable. We immediately felt at ease with her. With only 5 of us on the tour it was virtually a private tour. We covered a large area and took in some great pieces. I came away with a better understanding of ideology behind street art too. As for the food it was so good. My husband was particularly taken with the pie stop and would have gone back for dessert pie if we had had the time. My favourite had to be the Turkish ice cream. They were so patient as I tried a few varieties including one with feta and another with fig and walnut before settling on Turkish delight. The stop at the plant based taco restaurant and Cairo for falafel also found favour. The stop for draft beer at Henry's was also fun. Again I think we could have spent longer as it had great atmosphere. The neighbourhood reminded me of our trip to Haight Ashbury in San Francisco and my only regret is that we did not have time to return and explore it more during our stay. Would I recommend? You bet. One month on I am still raving about it.
We had a great time at the art and food tour! Justin is friendly, knowledgeable about the local art scene and had a great selection of local snacks lined up for us. We had been a bit skeptical about the price while booking but the time we spent (3 hours) + amount and quality of food that we got was well worth it. We were also lucky to have awesome weather and a cool group too, so overall a great time!
Our Local Sauce tour in Newtown/Chewtown was outstanding and one of the highlights of our Australia trip. First, it was great getting out of the Sydney CBD and into the cool and quirky scene of Newtown. Justin was an amazing guide! His genuine enthusiasm and knowledge of the street art and food scene came through, and he was happy to share it with us. While feeling relaxed we made it over a dozen street art locations with interesting story behind each. We made four food sample tops during our walking art tour and finished up with a beer in a local brewery. It was all outstanding!
The tour was more than I expected. Andrew covered a lot of the street arts and is very knowledgeable and engaging. The food included in the tour was delicious especially the vegan prawn taco. I would highly recommend this unique experience to anyone.
