Great Salkantay route to Machupicchu passing through hot springs

We have loved this experience. José is a very good guide. And the team of cook and muleteer is great. The facilities are a ground with views of the snow-capped mountains in the first stage. This route is 100% worth it

Amazing time!!

We had an incredible time on this trek! The views were spectacular, the food and accommodations were amazing, and finally our tour guide made our trip! Bel was so knowledgeable about the Andes and such a great presence/leader to have on this long trek!

Good

Booked the hike without Machu Picchu tickets because they were sold out. Fernando and Lucho made sure that we got to Agues Calientes with enough time to buy them there. Helpful guides and overall good experience

Poor

I was very disappointed with the service during our Salcantay trail trip. We took the 5 days/4 nights trip. Unfortunately, multiple issues made the experience stressful and poorly managed. • Many questions were answered dishonestly or avoided altogether. I repeatedly asked why we were not placed with a group and never received a clear answer. • The camps did not match what was offered. The second camp was especially bad: dirty sheets, unstable structure, and many insects. Private showers were promised but were not available. We were the only people there, which felt unsafe, and the staff could not explain why. On the first day, they even said they didn’t yet know where we would stay the second night, which was alarming and unprofessional. • We were not provided water for meals or at the start of the hike. On the first day, I was given boiling water, which damaged my bottle and likely released microplastics. When I raised this concern, I was told the microplastics were “minerals,” which was insulting and felt disrespectful. • In Machu Picchu Pueblo, we were first taken to a hostel instead of the two star hotel included in the tour. Only after about 20 minutes where we moved to the correct hotel, again showing poor organization. • The guide repeatedly pressured us for tips and strongly pushed my wife to hire a horse, even though we clearly said we have mountaineering experience. The pressure felt uncomfortable and excessive, and he even tried to increase the price. • We were unexpectedly charged 30 soles to transport our duffel bags from Hidroeléctrica to Machu Picchu Pueblo. This fee was never mentioned in advance, and we were not allowed to pay by card. • On the last day, the guide forced us to fill out a service evaluation, saying he wouldn’t get paid otherwise. The following day, he also made us record a video testimonial in front of him. It was impossible to be honest under those conditions. • We were given a Vistadome train ticket even though we paid for the Expedition. While this was a positive upgrade, no explanation was given, adding to the confusion. • I also had my wallet stolen at a metro station, which was not the agency’s fault, but it heavily impacted the overall trip. Positive points: • The chef was excellent and very kind. When he learned it was my birthday, he surprised me with a birthday cake. • The guide was knowledgeable and clearly passionate about his country, and he tried to adapt the tour to our interests. • The hike itself was incredible, with unforgettable views, and I would still recommend doing this trek at least once in a lifetime, just using another agency. Even one booked at the site should be of the same or better quality, at a cheaper rate. • Traveling alone had some comfort advantages, such as a private bus and better rest. • The Vistadome train experience was enjoyable. Overall, while the destination itself was amazing, the lack of communication, transparency, and professionalism from Quechuas significantly affected the experience. I cannot recommend this agency based on our trip.

The Adventure! 🥾🦙

If you are looking for a sporting challenge to complete your trip to Peru, this Trek is in the “must-see” category! The landscapes are breathtaking, between snow-capped mountains and tropical jungle, the diversity of landscapes seemed straight out of a movie. Not to mention the highlight of the show: Machu Picchu, this Inca fortress perched at 2400m altitude. Thanks to Reynaldo, our guide, these 4 days were all the more unforgettable! His advice, stories and anecdotes about the country and its culture contributed greatly to our experience! Special mention to the cook who accompanies us throughout the trip, his soups will comfort you after a day long 25km!

Salkantay 2025

I had such a great time on the Salkantay trek, and a big part of that was thanks to our guide, Fernando. He was so nice and incredibly helpful throughout the whole journey, always making sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. He also had a great sense of humour it was fun to have a joke and a laugh with him along the way. One of the highlights was when he even played football with us during the trek, which made the experience feel extra special. Overall, it was unforgettable, and I’m really glad Fernando was our guide.

Best tour ever thanks to our amazing guide!

My mother and I did the 4 day Salkantay trek with Fernando as our guide. He was so patient, accommodating, and really knowledgeable of everything to do with the mountain and history of the Incas. The trek entailed many history lessons from Fernando where everyone learned so much. There were different levels of fitness on the trek and Fernando accommodated everyone, provided coco leaves, and encouraged us at times where we were exhausted. The food on the trek was absolutely amazing, the chef outdid himself every night. The accommodation on the mountain was very comfortable aswell. I thought the prices and tips were all very fair, I wish I could have had the cash to tip more for the deserving staff! 5 stars from me. Love you Fernando 🥰🥰🤩

Never too late to grab life by the heels , feel that fear and do it anyway .

Without Fernando I may never have been able to walk all of the Salkantay pass . It was hard , exhausting , exhilarating , the group , my daughter guiding me up Waynapicchu. So emotional seeing MP rise out of the clouds in early morning sunshine . It was more than I ever anticipated . The food by Robert our chef glorious . Unforgettable and achievable at 62 !! Woo hoo Thanks most esp to guide no 1 Fernando .
