Roatan Mangrove Tunnels Adventure

Beskrivelse

Juan Carlos is a great guy. He drove us around showing us the island and took us to Snapper buffet (highly recommend the buffet). Juan was kind and stopped when we saw something we wanted to check out. Highly recommend him and his crew.
Highly appreciated For you review.
Juan Carlos picked us up from our residence and took us on a fun afternoon which consisted of a Mangrove tour and stop off at the cutest restaurant/bar called On the Rocks. Friendly service and the sweetest little monkey named Tipsy. Our captain, Jerry, was full of local knowledge. Our tour guide also was very knowledgeable about the various areas we drove through and history of the area. Good people, enjoyable time!
thank you so much for you Review,Looking foward to see you soon.
This is a family run company. Very good response time and communication. We booked the mangrove tunnels and then added on the day a tour of the Sloth hangout. Diana was our driver. Diana was very nice and made sure we arrived to our destinations safely. She is not a tour guide but she did act as an interpreter on the mangrove boat. From the port, it takes an hour to go up the East side to reach the mangroves tunnels. We booked a private boat and there was a mixup by the mangrove manger but it was quickly fixed. If you book private make sure you get private. You do go out in open water for a short time to get to the tunnels. There are no life jackets. I didn't worry since the water was so calm. But just fyi if you can't swim. We did like our boat, he had signs in english with historical facts all over the boat. So cute. One tunnel route had red mangroves and down another section were white mangroves. The tour on the water was 40 minutes. After the mangrove we headed on the same road back down 30 minutes to the sloth hangout. Entry fee for the sloth no matter what age is $12. We were at the sloth at 1:15pm and it was EMPTY. We didn't have to wait for a guide. Do yourself a favour and go to the sloth hangout in the afternoon. The sloth guide said people wait up to two hours in the morning. Avoid the morning! At the sloth hangout you can get up close and feed them, but you can NOT hold them. This guided tour was fast 20 minutes. You feed the sloth, birds and monkeys. The monkeys, when i was taking a picture grabbed my arm to get to my iphone and they also slapped ice cream out of my sisters hands. They use their tall to grab things. Be careful of your things near the monkeys. They tag team you. That was quite amazing to watch. After the sloth hangout, it took 30 minutes back down the same road to the port. This was my favourite excursion on our trip. Both the mangrove and the sloth hangouts were so peaceful. Diana did a great job and Juan the owner was always available. I am very happy with this company and our tour was just perfect. I recommend this company.
Our tour guide driver Juan Carlos was incredible. He took us around Roatan and was so sweet, and very knowledgeable. He drove us around the island and showed us local places taking us through the outskirts of Roatan. The mangroves were a little disappointing, there was garbage on the sides and it was only about 20 minutes. But it’s not a “must do” thing
Juan Carlos was very knowledgeable about the island and was happy to alter the usual plan to suit our interests. He took us to a great restaurant for a local treat. Thanks so much for a terrific afternoon!
Tour guide was amazing. Spent time showing us and teaching us all about Roatan. Highly recommend if you want to learn some of the history and culture of Roatan.
This is a fairly short tour in a small open boat with sun shade. Bring your sunscreen and hats. If you suffer seasickness then this may not be for you. The tour is located at the eastern end of the island and is quite a long drive from the west end, if this is all you plan to do, you might be disappointed but included as part of a day excursion to other sights it is well worth adding to you itinerary. The mangrove tunnels themselves are fairly short but do give a sense of what was here in times past. You will also pass some lovely homes and it is clear there is a lot of local wealth on the island too. Our guide explained that most of the homes we passed were owned by islanders and pointed out the ones that weren’t including the village of Czech ex-pats. Depending on the tour guide they may give you more or less information on the tunnels. However, our guide was very friendly and chatted about island life and culture. We were excited to add some bird sightings to our collection - we spotted frigate birds, herons, terns, lots of waders. It would have been great if we had guide that knew more about the wildlife, but that shouldn’t really be a negative for most folks.
A wonderful experience through the serene waters of the Mangroves. The guide was great. Worth the trip.
