Fra den betagende Snæfellsjökull gletsjervulkan til store lavafelter, majestætiske kratere, brusende vandfald, unikke sorte og hvide sandstrande, mystiske grotter og billedskønne bjerge, denne tur har det hele. Efter at have hentet dig fra det valgte afhentningssted i Reykjavik, tager vi mod den vestlige region af Island kendt for sine dramatiske landskaber - Snaefellsnes-halvøen.
Forbered dine kameraer til det mest fotograferede bjerg i landet! Vores første højdepunkt på dagen er et 463 m højt bjerg på nordkysten af Islands Snæfellsnes-halvø, nær byen Grundarfjörður. Navnet Kirkjufell betyder "Kirkebjerget", da det anses for at ligne en kirke.
Vores næste højdepunkt er en sandstrand og bugt ved foden af Snæfellsjökull-gletsjeren på Island. Din guide vil fortælle dig nogle interessante historier om fiskerbyen og om skibsvrag, der ligger på stranden.
Lige på vej mod østsiden stopper vi ved Búðakirkja, kirken fra det 19. århundrede. Den oprindelige kirke blev bygget i 1703, men på grund af mangel på deltagere blev kirken revet ned og genopbygget i 1987. I de senere år er denne minimalistiske bygning omgivet af bjerge og Islands barske natur blevet et meget populært objekt for fotografer, så glem ikke at tage et par billeder til dit galleri der!
Vores næste stop er en mindre fiskerby Arnarstapi. Vi vil være i stand til at nyde gåturen på den naturskønne kystlinje og muligheden for at besøge Miðgjá stenbro, en naturlig klippebue ud for kysten.

This trip is a long day of driving around this beautiful peninsula. Iga efficiently drove us safely while telling us about what we were seeing, from glaciers to ocean to mountains. We had a beautiful stop on a beach to see seals but my family and I were thrilled to watch an oystercatcher with chicks waddling behind.

The day trip around Snaefellsnes was a journey through a miniature version of Iceland - we saw black lava beaches, seagull cliffs, quaint churches, and learned a lot about Icelandic history and peculiarities.
