Denne heldagsudflugt til Pico tager omkring 8-9 timer, hvor du vil se de fleste af højdepunkterne på den nærliggende Pico-ø. Turen er perfekt for de besøgende i Faial, der kun tilbringer et par dage i trekanten, men ønsker at besøge Pico uden for meget stress. Pico, en førstehåndsindtrykstur, er en alt inklusive tur fra din bolig i Faial, inklusive færgeoverførsler, til Picos vigtigste vartegn. Afhængigt af færgeplanerne vil du sejle fra Faial omkring kl. 9.00 og returnere sidst på eftermiddagen omkring kl. 19.00. Ved frokosttid vil vi have en rig picnic i en af de rekreative parker i Pico.
Turen starter ved din bolig, hvorfra du vil gå til færgeterminalen i Horta for passagen til Pico. På Pico er der køreture på 15 til 30 minutter mellem attraktionerne. I slutningen af turen tager du igen færgen tilbage til Horta og bliver sat af ved dit overnatningssted.
Færgeoverførsel fra Horta i Faial til Madalena do Pico. Færger sejler hele året rundt og er en vigtig forbindelse mellem Trekantens øer.
Vinmarkerne i Criação Velha omkring Madalena er hjemsted for vulkanske vine, som har oplevet en genopstandelse i løbet af det sidste årti. Vinmarkerne er i 2004 blevet klassificeret som UNESCO World Heritage Site, vinen dyrkes direkte i de vulkanske klipper i små parceller, som er beskyttet mod vinden af små klippevægge.
Den lille Porto do Calhau er en af de mange små havne rundt om på øen. Det giver en flot udsigt over til Faial og på blæsende dage slår bølgerne spektakulært på de vulkanske klipper.
Fyrtårnet Farol de São Mateus byder på en spektakulær udsigt over Picos sydkyst. Hvis du er heldig, kan du endda få øje på en hval eller delfiner.
Lajes do Pico plejede at være centrum for hvalfangstaktiviteten på sydkysten, i dag er det et af hovedpunkterne for at starte en hvalsafaritur. Den lille by indbyder til en spadseretur.
Lagoa do Capitão er en af mange små søer, hvorfra du kan beundre Pico-bjergets majestæt. Søerne er hjemsted for et rigt fugleliv, omgivet af grønne enge.
Den lille skovpark i Prainha er et perfekt sted at stoppe for en picnic med udsigt til den nærliggende São Jorge-ø. For børn er der endda en lille legeplads.
São Roque do Pico på nordkysten er den anden hvalfangststation på Pico. Skråningerne omkring São Roque har en helt anden karakter, med alle de køer man har lyst til at være i Alperne.
Cais do Mourato på Picos nordkyst er præget af Adegas, små klippehuse, fra Picos vinproducenter. Der er flere naturlige svømmebassiner mellem lavaklipperne.
Madalena omgivet af UNESCOs verdensarvsvinmarker er en charmerende kystby. Fra Madalena får du en af de bedste udsigter på Faial.

What a fantastic day! Andreas was extremely knowledgeable about Pico, Faial, and the Azores in general and an enthusiastic guide. Everything went smoothly with ferries to/from Pico. We visited most areas of the island, with stops at many beautiful and interesting places, with amazing views and rich culture/history. His local perspective added so much depth to the tour. The picnic lunch was delicious and at a spot with a stunning vista! Highly recommend!

The owner and operator of this company is a kindly and generous man—a local resident on Faial Island. His wife makes yummy lunch for you and he brings plenty of water, wine and beer for the journey. The sights are beautiful if you have the sun cooperating. The UNESCO wine area is interesting too as there are only a few of these in existence. I used this gentlemen for both a tour of Faial and Pico Islands. As long as you have managed expectations (These are not Flores and Corvo) and good weather I'm sure you won't be disappointed. The trips are quite pricey for a solo traveler but one must understand that this is the cost of a private tour. I'm sure you will enjoy your time :) Happy adventuring!
