Morgen vil du blive hentet fra dit hotel i Chennai. Udskyd din dag med at udforske Marina Beach, Chennai kulturelle knudepunkt af Mylapore Kapaleeshwar Temple og San Thome Basilica efterfulgt af en traditionel sydindisk frokost i en lokal restaurant og besøge helligdommen på Ramakrishna Math , efterfulgt af et besøg i Fort Saint George fra det 17. århundrede, før de vender tilbage til dit hotel.

Gå på Marina Beach, langs den 3 km lange hovedstrækning af Marina Beach, og du vil passere cricket-kampe, flyvende drager, fortune-tellere, fiskemarkeder, corn-roasters og familier, der nyder havbrisen.
Vi besøger en unik klosterorganisation kaldet Ramakrishna Math, dedikeret til Sri Ramakrishna 1800-tallets helgen. Gæsterne får se det universelle tempel, helligdommen, en smuk Mantapam, et multimediemuseum og et fortryllende bibliotek.
Fort St George er den første engelske fæstning bygget i 1644 af East India Company. Vi besøger St. Marys Kirke, Indiens ældste anglikanske kirke. Vores kulturelle evangelist vil tage dig til et malerisk museum med rigdomme fra kolonitiden og fortælle historien om, hvordan det østindiske selskab morphed fra et handelsselskab til indiske linjal!
Vi går mod Mylapore, et gammelt boligkvarter i Chennai, hvis historie går tilbage til romertiden, hvor det plejede at bytte peber og fint klæde med Rom for guld! Vi besøger det storslåede Kapaleeshwar tempel. Bygget i det 7. århundrede er dette tempel dedikeret til Lord Shiva. Bygget i dravidisk stilarkitektur har det et tårnhøjt "Gopuram". Gæster kan forvente en fascinerende oplevelse af ritualer og sindsro inde i templet. Vores kulturevangelist vil afmystificere begivenhederne i templet!
Dette er et tempel dedikeret til Sai Baba, den store mystiker, der forenede hinduer og muslimer og prædikede om universel kærlighed og broderskab. Templet er bygget med hvid marmor og har en lampe, som har været tændt i mere end 100 år
Vi vil udforske mindesmærket for Swami Vivekananda, som var en stor filosof. Hans taler i Verdens Religionsparlament afholdt i september 1893 gjorde ham berømt som en taler af guddommelig ret og som en budbringer af indisk visdom til den vestlige verden. Om mandagen er der lukket og vi besøger i stedet Egmore Museet.
Vi besøger den berømte San Thome-basilika, hovedkirken i det romersk-katolske ærkebispedømme Madras og Mylapore. Vi kan se relikvier af St. Thomas her. Det er en af kun tre kirker i verden, der er blevet bygget på en apostels grav. De to andre er Peterskirken i Vatikanet og Santiago de Compostela-katedralen i Spanien.

Through this tour, I learned a lot about culture and history of South India. One of the highlights was Kapaleeshwarar Temple where I got a sense of what Hindu people value in their lives. And thali lunch was amazing too! Every dish especially rasam soup tasted great. I really appreciated the hospitality of the guide and driver. Thank you so much!

Really good tour around the major sites, our guide was very friendly and helpful but English and explanations could have been a bit better and more expansive. Good driver, felt very safe.

Comfortable travelling Our guide, Venkat, was extremely pleasant, friendly, knowledgeable, entertaining, and a joy to spend time with.
