Dear Mr. Herman, You clearly know your Notre Dame! We agree that any tour of the Paris Cathedral needs to address how it arose to be fully Gothic out of the preceding Romanesque style, to tell the façade’s tales, and how it all fits into Paris’s urban history. It’s a good thing that we do just that – and most often guests have no prior knowledge so we must speak to all levels. Perhaps in the wealth of information offered, some topics didn't register with you after the moment, but your guide does indeed cover (as do all Memories guides) every one of these topics in some depth as standard points. We do of course welcome any questions, which helps us better gauge where your individual interests lie and better tailor the tour to the group. In fact in investigating your comment, your guide was so disappointed you didn’t avail yourself of his expertise for more information after the tour.! Rest assured, however, the development of Gothic out of the Romanesque, the façade, the architectural significance and how it fits into Parisian history and more is part of what we offer for the regular Notre Dame tours.
