Mt Tarawera Helikoptertur med vulkanlanding

The pilot Ian was an absolute gentleman. He talked us through the flight and pointed out all the interesting area whilst flying. The weather was changing but he accommodated with an alternative landing site and we settled and left the aircraft running and walked and discussed the volcano and surrounding beautiful views only achievable by either air or by climbing for a few hours up the mountain. It’s a brilliant way to scheme perspective of the island and its surrounding features. I have flown many times before in helicopters but it’s always fun and special. Book this trip, you will not be disappointed and it’s safe, informative and an also very exciting for all passengers. If you ever need a helicopter technician let me know, I’d love to oblige. I’ll have to move to rotorua firstly but it’s a beautiful place. We will book again when we visit. Loved it immensely. Thank you

This is a wonderfully run and well conducted trip but be prepared to need to be flexible as its weather dependent and safety first! we went two hours earlier than booked because the weather was closing in and we thought it was going to be cancelled. So glad we got airborne as the flight was stunning and the landing on the volcano, not to mention the views! were other worldly :) Thoroughly recommend. Probably best to book early in your visit so allowing time to reschedule if necessary.

We did the Heli Hike adventure well organised and great value for money

This was an amazing adventure! We flew over mountains and landed on a crater. Josh, our pilot, was very knowledgeable and skilled. We had a smooth, fun flight!

What a fantastic trip, absolutely loved it. Spectacular scenery and a great knowledgeable pilot. Would recommend for anyone to do this.

The view were amazing! But as a photographer, it’s such a pity that I didn’t get some proper photos from this flight. From the beginning I’ve been keep asking about if I can sit on the left of the back seat because these is a big window and it’s good for photos. We were the first two passengers checked in to this flight, so I think we do have an opportunity to choose the seat first. But the pilot said we are going to pick up the other two passengers from other places. So I have to seat on the right back seat. She told me that I can change the seat after we picked up the other passengers, but actually didn’t. After the landing on tarawera, I said again that I want to sit on the left back seat, but pilot said no again because they are going to drop those passengers to somewhere outside this trip, so they have to sit on the left backside for a easy drop off. And after that, finally I got my back left seat from the drop off to the base with no view of mt Tarawera! Taking photo of mt tarawera is reason why I take this flight, but I didn’t get what I expected. So the conclusion of this is if you want to see the beautiful view of tarawera go for this flight. If you want to take good pictures maybe find some other ways.

We did the Tarawera Falls Volcanic Heli Hike which involved a landing at the top Mount Tarawera then being dropped off below for a ~6 mile hike to Tarawera Falls and being picked up by boat for our return. This was a great adventure. A perfect blend of heli tour and hiking. Our pilot was fantastic — she gave us a great ride and view of the volcanos, and answered all our questions about the area. Our hike to the falls was a highlight of our trip. We did not see a soul on the trail and spent half our time jumping in the crystal clear pools along the river. If you plan on going all the way to the falls, prepare to hustle; it takes a bit of time to go there and back before the boat comes!

A once-in-a-lifetime experience, top 👍 , isn’t quite cheap, but worth it. You are rewarded with a magnificent landscape. You only experience this once.

Magical experience surrounded by a top team. The pilot gives a lot of explanations during the sortie. The view is breathtaking at the top of the volcano. We will keep an undying memory of it.

This awesome helicopter tour will leave an unforgettable memory. The pilot was patient and interacted with us all. He did not hurry us and we had amazing views. I would go again!!!!!
