Miyajima Kulturelle Combo: Kimono, Te og Kalligrafi

We had a great time in this cultural experience. We arrived late because we couldn't find the location (the landmark in the instructions had not been updated), but they graciously let us participate. It did take a chunk of time out of our Miyajima Island day, but getting to experience the kimono, calligraphy, and tea ceremony all in one was worthwhile. They even took a lot of pictures for us afterwards.

The tea experience was thorough, going through each of the steps with explanation and reverence for the Japanese history and tradition. The dressers were very respectful and did not hurry the client, but included hair jewelry, different obi styles and kimonos that flattered the client The calligraphy class was instructive, but, of necessity provided just an introduction with encouragement, good brushes and ink, and an interested and interesting teacher We had fun and enjoyed every minute

We had an amazing time at Okeiko. The ladies who ran the experience were very experienced, incredibly kind, and wonderful to talk to. They helped us pick our kimonos and assessories, expertly dressed us, and then took photos and videos in the temple grounds, which were shared with us afterwards. After photos were taken, we proceeded with the tea ceremony. The ladies talked us through the process and shared tea with us before we got an opportunity to make matcha tea ourselves. Finally we practised caligraphy before we picked our preferred kanji and painted it our own shamoji, which we got to take home with us. We truly had an amazing time, and we're taking home many memories to cherish. I strongly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Miyajima.

This was an amazing event. It was so much fun getting dressed up in the Kimono's the ladies were very kind getting us dressed, going out into the beautiful gardens and having our pictures was great! the pictures that was taken was wonderful to have. Learning the reasoning and how to do the tea ceremony was fun. And then actually making our tea was a lot of fun! However We were unable to finish both cups of matcha tea :-( we do apologize for that. We had a wonderful teacher for our calligraphy, Yuko was very patient with us. All the ladies spoke wonderful English that was wonderful. The surprise for us was all the pictures that you took of us during the day, it was wonderful to have.

This is a MUST try when visiting Hiroshima. This place offer such a lovely and unique experience which you will remember for a long long time. I was here back in 2018 and in 2025 I went back, because I had such great memories. And the second time was just as magical. The staff is so kind and lovely and you feel very very welcome. You get to learn a lot of interesting things, and you will get a very unique experience trying some of the special Japanese traditions. I really recommend everyone going to Japan visiting this place!

The ladies provided a warm and inviting tea ceremony experience. Memories to last a lifetime! Dressing in the kimonos was amazing and they take great care of you!

We had a really great experience. Our host was really kind and took a lot of pictures for us. The experience was really nice. I would definitely do it again.

This excursion was a highlight of our trip. Even the men in our group enjoyed it. Definitely worth the ferry to Miyajima.

This experience was easily one of the highlights of our trip. My friend loved putting on the kimono robes and sandals. I wish I had lost a little weight before this but I was glad they had my size and I was able to fit the robes as well. The whole tea ceremony was super interesting because every move is thought through. The calligraphy was fun, too, even though it's not as easy as it looks. The photo shoot was great fun, too! I appreciate the two ladies working there as they were very kind and pleasant and laughed along with us. This is a must do when visiting Japan1

Great experience, learning about tea and calligraphy. It was awesome to also put the Kimono on and take photos, the staff was very friendly.
