The 2-day Machu Picchu tour through the Inca Trail was extraordinarily enjoyable from the beginning of the trip to the last day of our tour. Our guide was very wise about your Inca culture.

Tour company would not respond to our messages or calls for weeks, we showed up in person & they tell us “ugh we don’t have room for you guys”. Viator tries to call them & they hang up on them each time so I pass my phone over. They were annoyed we were upset. Later that night they inform us we can go two days later, so we rebook other tours and hotels to different dates that were no refundable $. We arrive for our train & find out nope they’re not taking our overnight bag and actually we have to hike the whole thing with it (the worst communication of my life), we all had to ration our water all day. Our train ride there and back nobody was next to each other or even in the same car. We paid for ALL of our meals even though they say Included. The icing on the cake was end of day 1 we’re told to get cash out and get a ticket for the Machu Picchu lottery for the next day because SURPRISE we don’t actually have tickets! So wasted hours doing that when we thought we spent $600 to avoid doing or worrying about anything like that. The extra sweet ending was our last day in Peru another Viator excursion we booked we were stranded on because it was overbooked and got to do nothing for hours :) they have been zero help and sided with the company even when asking for a partial refund to cover all the costs we had to cover for the overbooking, changes and lack of services covered we paid for. Avoid them.

The hike itself was challenging but rewarding. The trail took us through lush cloud forests, ancient ruins, and sections of original Inca pathways. After about 6-7 hours of hiking, we reached the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) just before sunset. The first glimpse of Machu Picchu from above was truly magical – a breathtaking moment I’ll never forget! We then descended to Aguas Calientes, where we checked into a comfortable hotel and enjoyed a well-deserved dinner. The next morning, we woke up early to catch the sunrise at Machu Picchu. Our guide provided an informative 2-hour tour, explaining the history, architecture, and significance of this Wonder of the World. The site was less crowded in the early hours, allowing for fantastic photos and a peaceful experience. After exploring, we took the bus back to Aguas Calientes, had lunch, and boarded the Vistadome train back to Ollantaytambo, followed by a van transfer to Cusco. Everything was well-organized, making the journey smooth and stress-free. This 2-day trek is perfect for travelers who want a balance of adventure and comfort. The hike is challenging but doable for most fitness levels. The guides were knowledgeable, the logistics were handled seamlessly, and the experience of hiking into Machu Picchu rather than taking a train was incomparable. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Peru and Machu Picchu. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that exceeded all expectations and Inca Trail Specialist company did a great job!

It was spectacular to travel on foot in the past through the legendary Inca Trail to visit the stone city of the Incas. Do it once in your life. We secure our quota months in advance to make the legendary Inca trail of the 15th century Incas. Our entire expedition went as offered in the package tour. The 2-day hiking to the lost city of the Incas, Machu Picchu was excellent . The pickup in the hotel was on time also the drop off was in our hotel. The box lunch was very healthy, the trail was beautiful and paved with stones. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable who gave us a lot information of the Incas. We strongly recommend!
