Knossos, hjertet af den minoiske civilisation, ligger 5 km sydøst for Heraklion, i dalen af floden Kairatos. Kretas mest berømte historiske attraktion, stedet anses for at være det største arkæologiske sted i bronzealderen på øen og omtales som den ældste by i Europa. Knossos blev først beboet af en neolitisk bosættelse i det syvende århundrede f.Kr. Den forblev beboet i flere tusinde år, indtil den endelig blev forladt i 1375 f.Kr. efter dens ødelæggelse, som markerede afslutningen på den minoiske civilisation. I 1878 blev den første storstilede udgravning foretaget af den rige kunstelsker Minos Kalokairinos, mens Kreta stadig var under tyrkisk besættelse. Dette blev efterfulgt af de langsigtede udgravninger (1900-1913 og 1922-1930) af Sir Arthur Evans, som afslørede hele det omkringliggende område af Knossos.

Christine & her team blew this tour out of the park for us! We enjoyed learning all about Chania & Crete. The private tour through Knossos was a huge plus & enjoyable, I’m glad we set up the agenda to go there before the museum because the history was so helpful! We opted to go on an olive oil mill tour and it was so interesting to taste & learn more about the process! This team was so easy & flexible to work with and after the tour Christine gave us delicious local spots near our hotel to try. If we visit Chania again, we will be using SeaByBus again!

Our private tour to Knossos was one of the highlights of our trip. Hiring a private guide was absolutely worth it! They brought the history to life with fascinating stories and insights that we never would have gotten on our own. The experience exceeded all of our expectations, and we left with a much deeper appreciation for the site. We also visited Elafonisi Beach with a different tour company. While the beach itself was beautiful, after seeing the quality and service of SeaByBus, I wish we had booked our Elafonisi trip with them instead. Well worth the road trip! We experienced history, culture and traditions of Crete. Our guide was very knowledgable and it was nice to have a separate driver so that she could focus on our interests and share information.

Palace of Knossos private tour was fantastic. Our wonderful driver picked us up from the boat port and took us to the site. Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and fantastic. What an amazing experience! Christine worked with us to customize this itinerary based on our needs and interests. She responded promptly and clearly to all communication communications. (email and WhatsApp.). She is unbelievably informative and shared so much history and background with our family. She arranged for an archaeologist tour guide at the Palace of Knosses and arranged for the most unique and delicious lunch experience in Heraklion. They generously provided water and snacks and meal-to-go for our family. The van was very comfortable and had Wi-Fi and a video to visually complement the information she shared. Christine was so wonderful helping to personalize this itinerary, that we worked directly with her on other full day experiences in Crete. Amazing tour with Christine and Thanos! It's like having new-found family in Chania and in Crete. Visited the Knossos Palace, the Archeological Museum. Christine was very responsive to all my queries in WhatsApp and even gave us recommendations (and helped us made reservations) for nearby restaurants as it was New Year's Eve and restaurants were mostly packed. I would also like to commend the replacement stop in the olive oil factory in lieu of Rethymnon we requested in order for us to see how they produce Cretan olive oil. The "snacks" were very fulfilling and a pleasant surprise as it was more of a meal rather than just a snack! On the way to the Knossos, Christine aslo provided us with much information about Cretan culture, food, music, and dance. Our guide for the tour in Knossos and the archeological museum, Talia, was amazing, enthusiastic and informative, and is someone who truly enjoys what she does. All-in-all an amazing tour. Hopefully we get to come back and join in another one of their tours. Cheers :)
