Wouldn't recommend this company. Unfortunately we have a very bad experience with this company. We booked and paid our tour almost 2 months ago, a few weeks ago they messaged me that they wanted to reschedule the booking because of whatever reason? This was not possible for us, in the end we agreed on a time a bit earlier, the same day. They didn't offer a discount or alternative tour or whatsoever. Now, 2 days ago they decided to cancel our booking completely due to the heat, which ofcourse can happen, but again they didn't offer any help on finding an alternative or offer a vehicle with AC for example. Ofcourse, everything is fully booked now and it's impossible for us to find another tour last minute. Now I hope we get our money back and that we didn't get scammed.
Pick Up was perfect. The jeep was a lovely restaurated Oldtimer from WW2. Lots of interesting details about the wine, the region and all about the champagne cultivation. Very friendly atmosphere.
Great ride; we discovered the history of the jeep, its renovation, and some lovely spots. A beautiful experience for both locals and tourists. The champagne tasting was also very nice, with sunshine and a superb viewpoint! Our passionate guide truly enriched the ride!
This tour is absolutely incredible! Nicolas is a very knowledgable and friendly guide, and he shows you the most beautiful spots in the champagne region. Cannot recommend this tour highly enough!
Great way to see and learn about the region. Guide was fantastic and spoke very good English. Also very knowledgeable about champagne
Unbelievable local experience! Being picked up from our accommodation was wonderful. The tour was educational & fun! I would thoroughly recommend this to everyone. You don’t have to drink champagne to appreciate & enjoy this experience. You get to learn a lot about the wine region & the science behind the grape growing. Travelling through the area in a restored 80 year old jeep made it more enjoyable. The views of the Champagne Region are truly breathtaking. Photographers, wine lovers, car lovers, everyone would appreciate this experience.
Despite the political oscillations over the past few decades, the relationship between France and the United States over the past 250 years could mostly be characterized as a “supportive friendship.” The US received direct military support from France during the American Revolution after Saratoga, and we repaid this in part by our endeavors on the European mainland during the two World Wars. The pinnacle of the latter was probably D-Day, and one of the most important pieces of military equipment that made the ensuing race across the country possible was the military Jeep. Produced by the hundreds of thousands, these simple vehicles served many purposes: general transportation, medical support, reconnaissance, etc. Their abundance after the war, along with the shortage of horses, led to their post-military service of assisting the harvest of grapes in the Champagne region; I was fortunate enough to take a tour in one with a current worker in the fields. After meeting my guide (and the jeep) at the Office for Tourism in Epernay we were quickly off on a tour of the vineyards. Nicolas took me through three of the viticultural zones of the region (Vallee de la Marne, Coteaux d’Epernay, and Cote des Blanc) while weaving personal/expert commentary on all things related to producing champagne. I learned about the process of planting seedlings, caring for the growing plant, harvesting the grapes, and pruning the vines post-plucking. Mixed in with this was descriptions of the differences between big and small houses (i.e. Moet & Chandon vs. Jeeper) and social commentary on the effects of the industry on the local town. We made several stops along the way to reinforce certain academic points, with our penultimate experience at the foot of Notre Dame du Gruguet while sharing a small bottle of Pierson-Cuvelier. A tour of the main avenue of the town (“the most expensive street in the world”) provided a fitting coda. I was dropped off at the starting point after about two hours. In summary, this tour was an excellent introduction into the Champagne region and dovetailed nicely with the visit to Dom Ruinart (see separate review). First, it was very well organized. Nicolas clearly has done this enough times to maximize knowledge imparted on the tourist while doing it under the perfect backdrop of rolling vineyards and historic mansions. Sharing a small bottle of Pierson-Cuvelier on a hill in front of Notre Dame du Gruguet was a definitive highlight of my time in the region. Second, Nicolas is a real worker in the vineyard and could speak from experience on any topic “from vine to harvest.” His personal insight was excellent. Last, oddly enough the Jeep for this WW2 enthusiast stole the show! It took seven years to restore the vehicle and Nicolas literally knew every detail about the machine down to the bolts stamped with a cursive “F” (for Ford). I would highly recommend this tour to anyone passing through Epernay, multiple thumbs up for sure.
Great experience, we learned a lot during this incredible walk through the champagne valleys. Everything was perfect again thank you.
Beautiful experience! The setting, the Jeep and a learned and passionate guide!
Very nice jeep ride in the vineyards. Nicolas knows his business well. He answered all our questions... this excursion is highly recommendable to understand the work of the vine and enjoy beautiful landscapes. A total success!
