Great tour, excellent value. The sights in Istanbul are very helpfully located close to each other. Don’t forget to bring cash for the various entrance fees (like I did). Miss Emel is the BEST, definitely ask for her. Be sure to book her quick: she’s in high demand. If you’re like me and you enjoy history, she can tell you everything about the history of a spot and even more. Great tour, Miss Emel gets a 10 out of 5.
Amel was an amazing and engaging guide with such a deep knowledge of all of the monuments we visited as well as Türkiye overall. The history of the Sultans and Ottoman Empire presented in the context of the palace and the Sultanahmet mosque was outstanding. Thank you Amel!
We spent a day with Fettah and will forever remember it. Not only was the pickup punctual and smooth, we breezed through amazing cultural and historical wonders with him, avoiding lines, and enraptured by his deep knowledge of the culture and history of the city and country. He shared amazing insights on the Turkish family, language, regional flavors, and life. We had amazing food guided by his suggestions and he was very flexible to meet our unique needs. He personalized so much of the day and took us shopping and helped us find items that we will cherish forever. He provided us local shopping advice and how to haggle (though we were terrible at it, sadly) and treated our family as if we were his family. We are grateful to the tour service and Fettah for giving us the gift of his time and rich knowledge, hospitality, and care.
What a fantastic day. Emel met me with a smile that said we were going to have a great day. Started out at the Hippodrome where we got our bearings and then preceded to spend the next couple of hours being astounded by Emel’s knowledge of all the monuments and mosques in the vicinity. Had a stop for the best pistachio ice cream on earth before heading for the Royal cistern. This was the most intriguing sight. Emel had all the historical facts and insights. Visited a ceramics workshop and a traditional carpet making venture. At both venues, we were met with Turkish hospitality and people that were proud of their crafts. Rolled onto lunch. This was exquisite. The authenticity and tastes gave me an other aspect of Turkish life. Emel assisted in the ordering with some astute questions regarding my likes/dislikes. The lunch was wonderful. The tour continued to the Grand Bazaar. This was an exceptional place with all sorts of commercial and financial trading happening before your eyes. Emel explained the history of the trading as the city was the end of the Silk Road and has always been a busy trading centre. The Spice Market was next. The sights and aroma of the streets were entrancing. After tasting some wonderful spices, the end of the day was upon us. This was such a memorable day and I would have never had such fun and covered so much without the guidance and knowledge of Emel. Would recommend this tour to anyone that wants to have an educational, yet fun day learning about the great city of Istanbul.
Emel did a wonderful job showing us all the sights and explaining the history. Lunch was at a great local restaurant, and the pottery workshop was a highlight. Watching how the rugs were made was also fascinating. Highly recommended - it enhanced our time in Istanbul considerably.
Emel was our guide and she was great! She was extremely knowledgeable about all of the history of the area and answered all questions we had. We were promptly picked up and met by Emel at the Hippodrome to begin our tour. She also took any photos of us that we wanted and she was able to secure us skipping the line at several sites. It was an extremely thorough and fascinating tour of the historical sites in Istanbul. Would recommend to anyone!
Savaş was one of the most professional guides I have met! He’s incredibly knowledgeable, so funny, and deeply respectful. He looked after us so well and took amazing photos of our day. The hours just flew by because we were having the best time. We truly loved our day with him! Thank you Savaş
Savaj was truly a great guide. He was extremely patient with the elderly people in our group and was super accommodating to customize our tour based on exactly what we were hoping for. He was super insightful on history and also a pleasure to speak with on all things.
We had a fabulous tour guide for our whirlwind tour of Istanbul. Be sure to ask for Emel— she is highly knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and just a delightful personality to spend the day with. She took us to a wonderful restaurant where we sampled the original cuisine of Turkey. She gave us great recommendations for what to purchase at the grand bizarre. I cannot imagine a better or more informed tour guide than EMEL. Highly recommend the tour and enthusiastically recommend her as a guide.
We were so fortunate to have Erkan Elibuyuk as our personal guide. He was affable with a deep understanding and knowledge of Turkish history. He has a degree in tour guiding that he complete at the university level. He was extremely accommodating to our physical limitations, time factors and barrage of questions concerning cultural differences specific to our curiosities in crafting our chosen sites. He made sure that we visited a site that was part of family history. What he couldn’t find on his own he called his friend to see if they might know. While waiting for a driver he brought us to another friend’s shop of incredible tiles and ceramic pieces that was more like an art gallery. There they served us tea while we rested and waited. The 4-5 hours we spent with him were invaluable to our experience in Istanbul and a highlight. Any guest to Istanbul would be well served by asking for Erkan Elibuyuk to be their guide. Nike Sage
