Basilica Cistern blev designet til at betjene det store byzantinske palads og de omkringliggende bygninger. Den var i stand til at opbevare op til 100.000 tons vand leveret via 20 km akvædukter fra et reservoir omkring Beogradskoven. Basilica Cistern (Underground Cistern, Yerebatan) er en af de mest berømte cisterner i Istanbul. Det blev bygget under det byzantinske imperium og senere ikke brugt af det osmanniske imperium og glemt i lang tid. Siden det opdaget og restaureret nu. Det har været brugt som museum siden 1988.

The tour guide was very helpful. My friend missed the tram, and the guide went with him on the tram.
The guide was very kind and offered us to visit the racetrack as well, it is a place with a lot of history and a wonderful architecture and ambiance. I felt like I was in the 007 movie walking along those walkways. I would have liked the tour to be available in Spanish.
