The Ancient Trails tour was fabulous! Uncrowded, pristine backcountry. Our Icelandic local guide was very knowledgeable about the history, culture and geology of the area. Hots springs, geysers, waterfalls, lakes, expansive tundra and volcanic rock formations! Huts were primitive but that’s part of the experience. We had a fun group and had the huts to ourselves! Much better than the other crowded trails.
We just got back from a very special hiking trip on the Ancient Trails in the Icelandic Highlands. We chose this trip rather than the Laugevegur Trail because it is far-less busy. We were often the only ones tramping across all that vastness - an experience in itself! The Troll mountains were other-worldly and spectacular. But most of all, it was Jonas our guide, who made the trip what it was. Thank you Jonas and Joey!
Hiking the ancient trails with Norse adventures was absolutely fabulous. Magnus and Thor (and Fenris) were great guides. We were always prepared and knew what the day was bringing. They told stories and the history of Iceland along with tons of laughs. The huts were remote, cozy, and brought our group together. We got to see parts of Iceland that nobody else would see unless on this trip. The variety of landscapes were breathtaking and beautiful. This trip exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend this trip if you’re looking for a unique experience.
The Ancient trail hut to hut hike with Norse Adventures was the absolute best. Magnus and Arnar are the most gracious hosts and guides. Their knowledge of the trail the history made every day special. The hikes were challenging but worth every step. The meat soup was the best in Iceland! Thanks for getting me to the top of the mountain and sharing the view.
