I reached out to Ricardo about our interest in his tour. He told me there will be an Airshow on the weekend of June 19 and traffic maybe a bit heavy, but he said it should be manageable as ours will be Friday 19th, and he then made recommendation . We agreed and I booked and it was in late May. As it gets closer ~ June 12, I contacted him to reconfirm, and he mentioned again about the Airshow, and he suggested that it's better for me to cancel the TA booking while I can, and he will monitor the situation and let me know no later than 2 days (6/17) before the actual tour day. I said ok and I went ahead to cancel my TA booking per his advice. I arrived Porto on 6/15 and had 2 private tour guides with us whom I asked them about the airshow traffic. They both said it will be a bit heavy, but since my tour with Ricardo is on Friday morning, there should be no serious problem at all. Both of these guides confirmed and said the same thing and reassured that I should be good to go. Therefore, I contacted Ricardo and told him that we decide to keep the original plan - Friday 19th morning Gaia tour. Shockingly he repeated the same thing...traffic, problem..not good...etc etc., so he would not do it. To make matter worse, I see him posting tour booking on Airbnb, TA, Getaguide, Viator for the same day - Friday 6/19 morning????? Basically he had no intention to keep my tour, he lied and deceived me to believe he monitored the situation for my benefit! He tricked me to cancel TA booking, so now he was no longer hooked, and he could walk away . Indeed it's a good thing I did !! This is upsetting, and he really messes up my plan. I could have more time to plan ahead if he did not want to do the tour in Gaia or maybe we can do some other things or find other guide. People, this Ricardo guy sounds nice, but he is not reliable. NEVER AGAIN! I think it is important for people here to know. Last thing you want to have someone pretends to be kind and nice and considerate, Basically he changed his mind because he gets lazy and he does not "feel" like doing it anymore ...does he care...Of course NO!
I am sorry that you were left with this impression. I would like to clarify that at no point did I refuse to provide the service or mislead you. I remained fully available for the agreed date and only shared information regarding potential traffic disruptions related to the airshow. However, I did not receive a final confirmation from your side to proceed. I categorically reject the accusations of dishonesty, deception, or unprofessional conduct. Throughout many years of operating tours, I have never received a similar complaint and have always strived to provide a responsible, transparent, and high-quality service to all my guests. As the tour did not take place, there was no actual service experience that could support the allegations presented in this review.
