Kajaktur i Holbox mangroveskove

I was really looking forward to this and once we were actually in the peace and quiet of the mangroves it was magical, but myself and my husband found this really challenging, particularly the sections on the open sea before you enter the mangrove. We have kayaked once before but found the two person kayak hard to control and we didn’t get very much help or guidance so we kept falling behind and were exhausted. I think there should be more training before you set off but it was quickly apparent that we were struggling and the guide could have helped then but he was so far ahead at the head of the group. Two guides would have solved this, and as it was a fairly large group I don’t think that would be unreasonable. Did see lots of wildlife and I’m glad we did it, I just wish we’d had more support.

I had a wonderful afternoon kayaking through the mangroves of Isla Holbox. For most of the trip there was no one else in sight, which made the tour really enjoyable. David was an excellent guide, superfriendly and attentive. He would know the names of all the birds and fish we encountered on our trip. We also stopped for a swim. It’s a really nice thing to do while in Holbox

Nice fishing trip. Forget about the snorkeling, it seems pretty rare in that season so don't book it if you expect it (should be clearer). Be extra careful with the fishing string, it can cut your fingers and hands when trying to get a fish. The landscape was amazing and the ceviche was delicious. One motor broke on the way back so it took almost 2 hours and a half to come back to holbox.

It was a lovely relaxing kayak through the mangroves and saw loads of birds including flamingos. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the birds, wildlife and the island. An overall excellent experience.

Amazing sunrise kayak tour of mangroves! Omar and Gustavo were brilliant guides with good knowledge of the flora and fauna and a knack for finding flamingos and crocodiles! Holbox is being developed fast and this was a welcome focus on its extraordinary nature as we paddled silently through the mangroves listening to bird calls and other animal sounds. Kayaking was not strenuous but we had perfect conditions, are fit and have kayaked before.

David was a great guide, very knowledgeable about the fauna and conscious of environmental preservation. Highly recommend the 7AM tour if you are looking for a relaxed time.

We went with Gabriel. He was very knowledgeable of the island and the mangroves and has a great passion for it. He showed us really cool animals and explained the nature of the island. Definitely worth the price.

This was the highlight of our holiday, we got to see flamingoes, different types of heron and even had a young crocodile swimming a few metres from the kayak. The trip was very well organised, with our friendly guides picking us up from the hotel and taken to the waterfront. We paddled along the large stretch of water between the promenade and the sandbank so we felt perfectly safe. There was us and one other couple and we could go at our own pace. Fantastic experience that we would recommend to anyone going to Holbox, although we were paddling for 3 hours so your do need a certain level of fitness.
