Hells Gate cykeltur og bådtur på Lake Naivasha

Hells gate nationalpark er et af de få steder, hvor du kan tage en cykeltur, mens du ser vilde dyr. Parken kan også nås med bil og til fods. Den korte vandretur ved kløften lader dig se ikoniske vulkanske klippeformationer og varme kilder. Senere besøger du også søen Naivasha som har flodheste, fugle og udsigt over halvmåneøen.

Hells gate er en nationalpark, der ligger 115 km fra Nairobi (2 timers kørsel). Det er en af de parker, hvor du kan tage en cykeltur, mens du ser på dyr. Denne park har vulkanske klippeformationer; vulkanstik, hovedvæggen og kløften. Turen begynder kl. 7.00, hvor din chauffør henter dig fra dit hotel. Efter en times kørsel tager du en pause ved udsigtspunktet Great Rit Valley for at få billeder. Kørslen fortsætter derefter i 1 time mere, så ankommer du til Hells gate. Her vælger du en god cykel til turen og starter derefter cykelturen med din guide. Det er en 8 km cykeltur den ene vej til kløften. Din guide vil vise dig alle de vulkanske klippeformationer og dyr i parken. Du vil også se den originale idé til Pride-klippen i Løvernes konge! Når du er ved indgangen til kløften, vil du efterlade din cykel og gå en kort gåtur, hvor du vil se kløften og besøge en varmekilde. Du får også at se, hvor mufasa dør (Løvernes konge). Cykelturen tilbage til bilen følger.
Når du er tilbage i bilen, vil din guide køre dig til Lake Naivasha til frokost efterfulgt af bådturen. Dette er en times bådtur, hvor du vil se flodhestefugle og se dyrene på halvmåneøen. Du kommer også til at se effekten af de stigende vandstande på træerne på siden af søen. Dette efterfølges af køreturen tilbage til Nairobi, hvor du bliver sat af på dit hotel.

Our trip to Hells Gate was almost in jeopardy of not happening because of a communication issue with the booking company and the local tour company. Out of desperation, I did a deep search online for Ace Ecotours and I found Paul’s number. Within an hour of calling Paul, he arrived at our hotel in Nairobi and we began the adventure to Hells Gate. This tour was such a great way to unwind and start my weekend. My guides Peter and Gadaffi were very accommodating and answered my questions about Kenya. The bike ride is picturesque with rock formations and incredible views. The boat ride after lunch was also quite the treat. I saw hippos upclose and it felt like a true safari! I highly recommend this tour!

The trip to Hell’s Gate Park was quite incredible. It’s a pretty long trek from Nairobi, but worth it.we took (slightly uncomfortable, but working… they did the job) bikes into the park. We were assigned a (mandatory) guide who was excellent and had great stories to tell along the way. Our driver for the day was prompt, courteous and patient. His vehicle was clean and comfortable for the long journey along bumpy roads. The trip to the lake was amazing, take the boat ride, it’s worth it!

My Guide Peter was great and kept me motivated when I wanted to give up on the biking tour. Easy to talk to and has a lot of knowledge. It was nice to see animals while biking. My only complaint is that the tour was very expensive. I payed almost the same as the price for two people. But I quickly realised that most tours from Nairobi are overpriced when you travel solo. This does however not reflect upon my guide and experience as it is true for other tours aswell.

What a magnificent excursion! As soon as I was told that we were going down the path a bit difficult, I boarded. I love these kinds of adventures. Peter was a perfect guide. He had explained everything to me about what to expect and where. Going there by bike added fun and spice to the adventure, it's so much more pleasant than doing it by car. In my opinion, this is exactly how you should get there, you can enjoy nature 100%. Super nice trip, safe walking between antilopes and zebras. Lunar landscape and very hot - if you intend to ride a bike don't forget your 50SPF cream and water. The geothermal swimming pool is big enough to enjoy it even if many people were there too. Naivasha is a place to relax and enjoy good food, sleep, herbivors ( including hypos during the night) and monkeys coming on the terrace free of any restriction. Finally we didn't visit the island, but we seems that the place keeps alive the filming of "Out of Africa" (1984) and the animals brought there for the filming are enjoying for almost 40 years a nice life. The guide, Peter was very knowledgeable and prompt, safe driving, closing the circle of a very good weekend break. We recommend his services for a reasonably priced and enjoyable break.

I went on this tour with my girlfriend and it exceeded our expectations. The guide Peter was funny and knowledgeable and was willing to answer our questions throughout the day. He is also a better Driver than ever Uber in Town. The bike ride at hells gate was abit challenging but we saw animals and rock formations which made it totally worth it. During the boat ride we saw hippos and birds and it truly felt like paradise. Im definitely booking with this tour company again!
