I really enjoyed this bike tour. We rode about 25 km at a relaxed pace, visiting many beautiful temple ruins along the way. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and safety-conscious. He shared the history and stories behind the different temples, which made the ride much more interesting. The rental bikes were about what you'd expect from any rental fleet. The gear shifting wasn't perfect and the suspension was quite worn, but the brakes worked very well, which is the most important thing for a safe ride. Overall, this was a great experience and a fun way to explore the historical sites outside the city. I would definitely recommend it.
Thank you for sharing your feedback! I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed the bike tour. It sounds like the relaxed pace, the temple visits, and the guide’s knowledge really made the experience memorable. I appreciate your comments about the rental bikes as well—it’s good to know the brakes worked well and kept the ride safe, even if the gear shifting and suspension weren’t perfect. I’m glad this tour gave you such a fun way to explore the historical sites outside the city. Your recommendation means a lot! Best regards, Fokke van Egmond
Absolutely a great way to see the farming area around Chiangmai. Wonderful guide. The lunch stop was very good and local. I hate biking in traffic and I felt safe.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We’re so happy to hear you enjoyed exploring the farming area around Chiang Mai with us. It’s wonderful to know you felt safe and comfortable on the ride, and that the local lunch stop was a highlight. We truly appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you back for another adventure soon! Warm regards, Thailand Biking Chiang Mai
We were in a group of seven people plus our guide Wit (spelling?), which was a really nice sized group. It was easy biking, all flat, across a bridge over the Ping River and out in the countryside which was beautiful. I was pleasantly surprised by how interesting our stops were throughout the morning - Wit is full of interesting info and stories. My favorite was when we stopped to watch people making sticky rice by stuffing it in hollow bamboo sticks and grilling it over an open flame. We got to try some, which was the perfect little appetizer to our upcoming lunch! Really a nice change of pace from the other things we've done in Chiang Mai and a half-day was perfect.
Thank you for sharing such a detailed and thoughtful review! We’re delighted you enjoyed cycling with Wit and found the group size just right for a relaxed and friendly experience. It’s wonderful to hear that the countryside scenery, the bridge over the Ping River, and the cultural stops along the way made the ride memorable. We’re especially glad you enjoyed tasting the sticky rice cooked in bamboo—it’s one of our favorite local traditions to share. A half-day outing is indeed the perfect way to explore Chiang Mai at a slower pace, and we’re so happy it added something unique to your trip. We hope to welcome you back for another adventure soon!
Excellent way to explore the countryside around the city. Cycled through villages, paddy fields, observed villagers going through their normal working lives. Cycling was easy, flat roads all the way along route, coved 25km in total.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed cycling through the villages and paddy fields, and that the flat roads made the 25 km ride comfortable and enjoyable. It’s wonderful that you were able to observe local life along the way—that’s exactly the kind of authentic countryside experience we hope to provide. We look forward to welcoming you back for another ride soon!
We took the afternoon ride around the Chiang Mai countryside. We rode through some temple ruins, rice paddy fields and a bazaar. We stopped by for lunch (provided for) where the cook made excellent fried rice, pad thai and basil chicken. The bicycles were well maintained and comfortable. The guide was patient and courteous. There is a lot of riding by the road side with vehicles, so some may be intimidated if not used to it, but Thai drivers and motor cyclists were extremely courteous and gave way which we're really thankful for.
We loved our 1/2 day bike tour guided by Wee! The riding was easy and the comfort bikes made riding in our street clothes (we bike at home and usually wear padded bike shorts) absolutely fine for our 1/2 day ride. We started early beating the heat of the day and making the ride very pleasant temperature wise. We felt very safe on the ride, as Wee always made sure to lead us as we crossed roads which I really appreciated. Wee is a very knowledgeable guide, his English is excellent and we learned a lot about the ancient Lanna kingdom, the Loy Krathrongh festival and Thailand in general. One of the things we enjoyed most was the way Wee made an effort to introduce us to local people we met along the way...and the wonderful lunch we had at a very small local restaurant. We highly recommend this excursion.
Visited a number of nice locations and heard some interesting facts. Good guidance. What I find a disadvantage is that a lot of cycling takes place along busy roads and for a while even on something that resembles a highway. But also saw water buffalo and rice fields.
It was lovely relaxing family day out on very comfortable bikes. Our guide, was top class, he showed us so many different things in the area and brought us to a nice local place to eat. The only minus was the location of start point, you either needed a car or take a cab to get there, same to get back to your accommodation. But it was worth the effort!
Had a very nice morning cycling through the hinterland of Chiang Mai. It was just the 4 of us and the guide. The guide was super nice and knew everything about the region. You cycle on good bicycles with gears and stop at different places to see how the locals live. You can taste different dishes and take photos. A very fun and relaxing trip.
Beautiful half-day private bike tour on the outskirts of Chiang Mai with stops at temples, schools, bakeries, rice fields and carp feeding. Very detailed description on the organizer's website, nice guide ("Khoi"). The route is also demanding for a 9-year-old child due to the bike, short stretches also pass through very busy areas. Tip: book the tour at 8:00 a.m., as experience has shown that there is less rain then.
Thank you for your review. It is always good to read our guests had a great time on our tours. Kind regards, Fokke van Egmond Chiang Mai Biking
