Oplev det bedste af Cape halvøen på kun en halv dag på denne naturskønne Cape of Good Hope, Cape Point og Boulders Beach Penguins tur fra Cape Town. Kort efter afhentning kører vi langs M5 og forbinder med M4 via Muizenberg, St. James og Fish Hoek strande beliggende langs den naturskønne False Bay kystlinje på vej til Boulders Beach Penguins Colony.
Ved at passere gennem Muizenberg-stranden ser vi strækningen af attraktive farverige strandhytter i det fjerne. Strandhytterne ligner 1800-tallets ”bademaskiner” - en vognlignende struktur, der blev hjulet ned til vandkanten, så kvinderne kunne ændre sig til deres hak-til-ankel-badetøj og boltre sig i det lave vand. Strandhytterne bruges derefter som omklædningsrum til både solbadere og ivrige surfere.
Ligesom deres kolleger bruges strandhytterne, der kan ses her på St. James Beach, også af solbadere som omklædningsrum. Din rejseguide stopper her et par minutter for at give mulighed for nogle sjove fotos med disse farverige strandhytter, inden vi fortsætter til Boulders Beach Penguins-koloni.
Vi kører forbi Kalk Bay Harbour, der mere ligner en fiskerlandsby, med fiskerbåde, der ligger til havn, og fiskhandlerne roser deres fangst. Frisk fisk fås til daglig puchase her. Seværdigheder, lugt og forfriskende havluft er intet mindre end spektakulære.
Vi passerer gennem Fish Hoek stranden. Det er muligt at føle det varme indiske havvand, der strømmer ind i False Bay-området, hvilket gør Fish Hoek til en foretrukken strand til svømning og solbadning i lange strækninger med varmt hvidt sand.
Vi stopper ved Boulders Beach for at besøge den afrikanske pingvinkoloni. Boulder's Beach er en af de bedste strande i Cape Town især til svømning og solbadning. Det er muligt at have tæt møde med de afrikanske pingviner, mens man svømmer og solbad på Boulder's Beach, men det er ikke garanteret. Derfor tager vi en tur langs strandpromenaden til den officielle placering af pingvinkolonien for at se pingvinerne i deres naturlige levested. Boulders pingvinkoloni er hjemsted for cirka 3000 afrikanske pingviner, der tilbringer deres dage med at boltre sig i de falske bugtfarvande, baskere i solen og parade på granitblokkerne.
Efter vores møde med de charmerende afrikanske pingviner fortsætter vi til det, der helt sikkert er dagens højdepunkt: Cape of Good Hope og Cape Point Nature Reserve. Det antages, at intet besøg i Cape Town er fuldstændigt uden et foto bag Cape of Good Hope-navnebrettet. Vi vil udforske naturreservatet, mens rejseguiden deler historiske historier om Bartholomew Dias og Vasco Da Gama-beacons. Cape of Good Hope er hjemsted for mange en fauna og flora såsom fynbos (fin busk), over 250 fuglearter, herunder strudser, bukke, bavianer og Cape mountain zebra. Vi råder vores gæster til at være opmærksomme og ikke komme for tæt på de vilde dyr i reservatet, da de kan blive voldelige. Ingen tæt kontakt eller fodring er tilladt.
Efter at have udforsket Kap det Gode Håb kører vi til Cape Point, hvor besøgende frit kan tage en kort vandretur op til Cape Point fyrtårnet eller vælge Flying Dutchman Funicular (ekstra gebyr for egen regning). Mange tror, at Cape Point er mødestedet for de to oceaner. Men Cape Point er faktisk det officielle mødested for de to havstrømme: den kolde benguela og den varme Agulhas havstrømme. Cape Point fyrtårnet er det mest kraftfulde på den sydafrikanske kyst.
Forudsat at den er i drift, tager vi en køretur gennem Chapmans Peak Drive, som er en af de mest naturskønne ruter i verden. Vi stopper et par minutter ved udsigtspunktet for at tage nogle billeder.
Ved vores ankomst tilbage til Cape Town vil besøgende blive sat af på det samme afhentningssted, hvor de blev afhentet om morgenen.

This was a great day trip. We saw penguins, Cape of Good Hope, took a quick hike, baboons and ostriches. The drive was beautiful. Our guide Ray was great too!
