We just come back from 5 days in Darien, guests of Solarte and his family. What to say...my heart is still there. Walking in the jungle, sleeping in the lodge with a river by, whaching animals, sharing time with smiling beautiful kids, feeling like in a lost paradise! Feeling the strong and love of these people for their environment and the strict necessity to preserve it as it his. Just go, enjoy, and come back differently.

I undertook this tour with TaoTravel and they were great at keeping me informed and always got back to any of my questions promptly. On the first day I was greeted by our agent Carmelita who guided myself and 3 other tourists to the right bus and stayed with us all the way up to the river taxi. I stayed at La Chunga for 3 nights and enjoyed every minute of it! Solarte was very accommodating and helped myself and fellow tourists get settled in and feel welcomed. We had an itinerary sent to us via email but when we got there Solarte and his family were very flexible and always asked us what we’d like to do and even created custom tours for us. They even included us in additional experiences not even mentioned like an evening lesson on how to forage food, and a tour with the shaman on local medicine for a medical student. If you’re looking for an adventure in Darién, this is the place to be.

This was by far the best experience my girlfriend and I have ever been on. Entering the Darien jungle and getting to know the Embera tribe is almost a surreal experience. From start to finish the whole tour was well organized. Someone met us the day before at the Panama City bus terminal and accompanied us to our hotel in the main town of Darien. The next morning the real tour began, with an exhilarating boat ride up the river and into the lush jungle. The nature is amazing and left us in awe. Our guide was fluent in English, which made the tour so much more enjoyable and we learned so much about the culture and customs of the Embera. Our lodge was very basic, raised on a wood platform. The nights were so amazing, listening to the jungle sounds all around us. I can highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience nature pure...
