Gibbon spotting, vandreture og sightseeing tur i Mae Kampong
Beskrivelse
Rejs gennem regnskoven, højt oppe i bjergene øst for Chiang Mai på denne 1-dages tur i og omkring Mae Kampong. Vi vil udforske en fantastisk landsby beliggende blandt tårnhøje bjerge, mødes og få en snak med de lokale og nyde nogle lokale lækkerier og endda have en chance for at se gibbons i naturen! Inden vi ankommer til landsbyen, tager vi en kort vandretur for at prøve at få øje på de fastboende gibboner, disse majestætiske væsner blev frigivet tidligere som en del af et rehabiliteringsprojekt og lever nu i et afsondret område, der kun er kendt af få mennesker. Vi fortsætter med at rejse op i Mae Kampong og nyde en vandretur rundt i netværket af gader, før junglevandringen begynder. Vandreturen tager dig ad en afsondret 3 km sti gennem skoven, som sjældent besøges og ikke er kendt undtagen for lokalbefolkningen. Vi ser et af de ældste træer i Chiang Mai, og den lokale guide vil forklare om flora og fauna undervejs. Så er det tid til frokost, inden vi vender tilbage til byen!

Efter en times kørsel ankommer vi til landsbyen Mae Kampong. Vi vil udforske det indviklede netværk af gyder i denne smukke landsby, før vi går ind i junglen for at udforske en sjældent besøgt sti med gamle træer, vandløb og frodig jungle.
Gå op ad Mae Kampong-vandfaldet og køl af i forfriskende pools og nyd en kop kaffe i en dejlig kaffebar med udsigt over landsbyen.

We loved our day with Eco Tours Chiang Mai. Seeing the gibbons was wonderful and we enjoyed our trek through the jungle. The guide was really knowledgeable and we learned a lot. The lunch was great, in a beautiful restaurant by the river. It was well run and organised, with good communication. We were collected and dropped off at our hotel.
Impressive tour through the jungle and daily life of the local village people. Learn about the Gibon monkeys and the flora of the forest. The sides were very good and helpful 👌
The whole day was great. First we had a short excursion to the Gibbons, then we visited the Waterfalls and in the end the Mae Kampong main village. What we liked best was to see the Gibbons in their natural habitat, but also that our guides shared their knowledge about local foods and plants. We really enjoyed the day a lot!
Fantastic day out in the mountains, so much knowledge was shared about the local fauna and flora. It was amazing to see the local family of gibbons. The guides were amazing and very friendly. Can’t recommend it enough if you like nature and mountains! Also the restaurant we ate for lunch was delicious.
A great experience!! Meeting the Gibbons in the middle of the forest is magical. Our guide was great. She took the time to pass on her knowledge about local plants and flowers. Which made the walk even more magical. The meal was also very good. I recommend without hesitation!!

The gibbons showed up after a short hike. We saw a female with her 5 week old baby and her mate. They had a lot of energy and did some incredible jumps and observed us.
I spent a wonderful day with driver (and Eco Tours owner) Golf and guide TK. They were super knowledgeable and accommodating—jungle trek is what I wanted and that’s exactly what I got! Along with local resident Mr Song (who shared his extensive knowledge of edible plants and herbs) we spent the day observing gibbons, hiking through the jungle, wading in a waterfall, and enjoying lunch including some unusual local dishes. Golf has clearly spent a very long time cultivating relationships with the local folks and it absolutely shows! A gem of a trip :)
The tour in search of Gibbons (which we later found) and the jungle walk around Mae Kampong village was an enriching experience and we will take it with us forever. Our Tk guide gave us a lot of interesting information about the flora and fauna of the place and we were also accompanied on this journey into nature by a village guide. If you are in the area of Chiang Mai, I recommend not to miss this truly authentic experience!
This tour will almost certainly be my favorite thing I’ve done in Thailand. The guide and driver, both women, were amazing! Both spoke great English and were very knowledgeable about the gibbons and as well as village culture. We were lucky enough to see the gibbons which was spectacular. The tour company worked with us to be dropped off in Kampong Village at our hotel (which I totally recommend, we haven’t seen any other westerners here since 3:00 pm) and held our luggage in their van during the tour. Very worthwhile!
