My friend and I had a great experience attending The Doors of San Miguel 4-hour painting workshop. We were delighted to have the workshop led by master painter Fernando, whose encouraging teaching style immediately put us at ease. He guided us through the process step by step with a thoughtful approach that made even the most intricate details feel manageable. His method was incredibly well-structured and easy to follow, whether you were picking up a brush for the first time or had prior experience. We especially appreciated how much we learned in just four hours. We walked away with not only a finished piece inspired by the iconic doors of the city, but also a handful of new techniques we’re genuinely excited to continue practicing beyond the workshop. It struck a perfect balance between creativity and instruction, making it both relaxing and rewarding. We would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone looking to connect with their creative juices in a fun and meaningful way.

The instructor was very knowledgeable and extremely patient. You could tell he had passion and wanted students to do well. I felt encouraged even those I had no artistic talent or background. Thank you for such an amazing lesson.

While parts of this experience were enjoyable, and the teacher was both kind and knowledgeable, I left feeling a bit frustrated. I think this would be a wonderful activity for beginner painters, especially if you’re going with a friend and looking for a fun, guided experience. However, experienced painters may feel somewhat constrained by the structure of the class. The class follows a very structured, step-by-step approach, and it does not include some of the basic tools many painters are used to having on hand, such as a ruler, which made the process feel more limiting. If you’ve had years of training in a different style or method, it can be difficult to adjust. To get the most out of it, go with a friend and set aside your usual process and simply go with the flow.

I learned so much! My teacher often modeled a new technique for me on a sheet of paper so my final product was 100% mine. I’m a novice but came away with a painting m proud of!! Would definitely recommend and teachers are bilingual English/Spanish.

I was very happy with my Doors of San Miguel painting experience. It's at least 30 years since I painted, and that was with water colour so I was keen to learn about acrylics. I was not disappointed. I learned what supplies I would need to acquire, how to plan and lay out a painting, how to apply layers, how to mix colours - in. short everything a beginner needs to know. And I have a not-too-bad first painting. One of my classmates posted our class photo. That's me in the pink hat.

I learned such a lot from our very helpful maestro. From knowing nothing I now know what supplies to purchase and how to go about producing a painting. Also I enjoyed the day very much.
