Dette er en privat tur med en 7-personers varevogn til maksimalt 6 gæster. Elafonisi-øen og dens strand ligger i den sydvestlige spids af Kreta, cirka 2 timers kørsel fra Chania. Det betragtes som en af de bedste strande i verden. Denne ø er forbundet med Kreta med en smal og lavvandet stribe sand, der dannes med sin lange halvø, eksotiske strande med hvidt sand og turkisblåt vand. En lavvandet lagune er dannet, og du kan gå til Elafonisi-øen og udforske dens strande. Vejen dertil går gennem den betagende Topolia Gorge, maleriske landsbyer og de fascinerende varierede landskaber. Målet med denne tur er ikke kun at besøge en strand, men turen dertil er en oplevelse i sig selv. Vi vil parkere 1/4 mil (1/2 km) væk og skal vandre på en jordsti til stranden. På vejen tilbage vil vi gøre et stop for at spise frokost. Valgfrit besøg på en vingård, olivenoliefabrik til smagstur eller kloster efter anmodning.

Vejen ender 1 km (0,6 miles) før stranden. Du bliver nødt til at gå på en grusvej i 15 minutter ned og 20 minutter op ad vejen. Det vil være sværere at besøge Elafonisi-stranden for børn, personer med helbredsproblemer eller gangbesvær. Elafonisi ligger i den sydvestligste spids af Kreta. Det er en aflang halvø, som ofte knækker i to dele af vand og giver indtryk af at være en separat ø. Eksotiske strande med hvidt sand og turkisblåt vand, er dannet på begge sider af halvøen. Sandet er lyserødt mange steder og tager sin farve fra millioner af knuste skaller. Nær halvøens bristepunkt skaber havet en lille lagune, som du kan krydse lagunen for at nå øen. Øen er en kilometer lang og ender i et klippefremspring. Elafonisi er et Natura 2000-beskyttet område, som er hjemsted for mere end 100 sjældne planter og et fantastisk ly for sjældne havskildpadder.
Vi kører gennem Topolia Gorge, det er en naturskøn køretur og stopper for at nyde den betagende natur. Høge og geder kan ses over og ved siden af kløften. Vil prøve lokal honning, olivenolie og andre delikatesser. På vejen tilbage vil vi stoppe ved en traditionel kunstner, der udskærer oliventræ.
Klostret Chrisoskalitissa ligger et par kilometer før Elafonissi. Det minder om en fæstning, der ligger på en 35 m høj klippe med flot udsigt. Navnet på klosteret betyder Our Lady Gold-step på græsk. Dette tages efter et skridt ud af 98, som ifølge traditionen var guld. Det siges, at kun de troende kan se det. Templet har to gange, der er dedikeret til Jomfru Maria og den hellige treenighed. Den nøjagtige dato for oprettelsen af klosteret er ukendt.

Spent the last week with Petros touring western Crete. Was our first time to the region and was able to see and experience more in a relative short period of time then we have in any of our other trips. He was able to guide us to the proper beach areas and restaurants. They have the timing dialed with logistics so traffic was avoided on the drive to and from the beach along with having most secluded area to enjoy the beach. A highly recommended this company. Very knowledgeable of the area and has the ability to provide suggestions to the guests that fits their personality. Love the private experience and the value they delivered for us. Can't wait to come back and book with these guys again.
We are happy you had such an excellent time at Elafonisi and west Crete. elafonisi is stunning, but we make you have a smooth experience of Crete, on the way to Elafonisi making short stops and talking telling you everything you need to know about the Greek and Cretan culture, history, food, nature or whatever interests you. Stella was wonderful! She picked us up right on time and took us to Elafonisi beach which was beautiful! She did a great job getting us there early before it go too crowded. We bought chairs with umbrellas and enjoyed the day. We walked back to the vehicle where she took us to a local restaurant in Crete that had amazing food! We loved getting to experience a local meal before getting back on our cruise ship! Would 100% book with her again!!
We are happy you enjoyed a full day at Elafonisi beach. Stella is very nice, friendly and talkative. We try to depart early, before 8:00am, to skip the traffic, crowds, heat and find sunbeds. The restaurant is an experience of authentic Cretan food. Its a family business and everything is sourced locally. We hope to see you again in the future and discover more of west Crete.
Peter is an excellent guide. His English is top notch. He is very enthusiastic. The beach was lovely and an excellent “hike” to the chapel on the hill beyond the beach. Lunch was very tasty and reasonably priced.
We are glad you enjoyed the trip to Elafonisi, the second best beach in the world according to TripAdvisor. Peter studied business in the US (Carolinas) with scholarship, so he is very knowledgeable. Lunch is around 25 euro per person to be full. Hope to see you another time!
Tsampas took us on an amazing excursion to Elafonisi Beach. The ride through the Cretan countryside was breathtaking, and Tsampas expertly navigated the twisting roads while narrating our surroundings. He got us there ahead of the buses and crowds so we enjoyed a bit of time feeling like we were the only ones on the beach. Elafonisi Beach is a must see. Crystal clear blue and green waters with beautiful sand beaches tinged with pink sand and rugged coastline. We didn’t think the trip could get better, but then Tsampas took us to a picturesque restaurant with such delicious food! Tsampas explained the dishes and pointed out the local ones so we truly had an authentic experience. Tsampas is a fun, friendly, expert tour guide who got us back to our ship in plenty of time. A+ trip that I highly recommend! Thank you, Tsampas!
We are glad you enjoyed the trip at Elafonisi. Its a spectacular location, provided we depart early (before 8:00am) to avoid the busses and crowds. The restaurant is authentic, local and cheap so a great experience, especially Tsigariasto, the lamb or goat boiled and then cooked in olive oil, tender and tasty. Tsampas is the surname of Peter and George who own the company Niriis Tours and do most of the tours.

Our tour of Crete with George was absolutely perfect! From the moment he picked us up in a comfortable, air-conditioned van, we knew we were in great hands. George, who was born and raised on the island, has an incredible wealth of knowledge about Crete and shared fascinating stories and history along the way. His English was excellent, and he was so friendly and attentive, always making sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. The highlight, of course, was the drive out to stunning Elafonisi Beach — one of the most gorgeous places we’ve ever seen. You will need to bring your own towels and a change of clothes is recommended as well. George let us relax and spend as much time as we wanted there before taking us to a small local restaurant for lunch. He introduced us to authentic Cretan dishes and shared the background of the island’s culinary traditions, which made the meal even more special. This tour was the perfect mix of natural beauty, local culture, and warm hospitality. Highly recommend booking with George — he made our Crete experience unforgettable.

Our tour guide Sofia was very obliging and stopped at many places of interest along the way to Elafonisi Beach. There we were given free time to relax & explore parts of this beautiful beach after which we were driven back to Chania to have lunch at a local restaurant and enjoy more free time to explore the old town. Her English was very good and she shared her local knowledge and love for Chania with us.

You combined the two best highlights of west Crete, Chania old town and Elafonisi beach. The tour was for Elafonisi beach, but because you decided to leave early (water is cold early May) we made up some extra time to visit Chania old town. We hope to see you again in the future!
