Our half day tour of Douro Valley offered more than we expected! Afonso was our driver and guide for the day and he provided a mix of historical, factual, and personal stories throughout the day. We enjoyed his company!! The views of the Douro Valley are stunning, perhaps even better than those I’ve seen in Napa, Sonoma, and Tuscany! Our visit to Quinta D’Origem was delightful with Ana as our tasting expert for olive oil and wine. Absolutely beautiful setting and I learned a lot about the olive oil process and will now be making more educated purchases. The wines were quite good too! Our stop for lunch was really good with typical Portuguese fare and it was apparent it was a spot for locals. Afonso was a wonderful host for the day and I appreciated his story telling ability and also knowing when we needed some quiet time. A great, memorable day!
We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and our tour guide, João, was amazing! He went above and beyond to ensure I would be able to eat something at lunch with my dietary restrictions. I was so appreciative of the extra effort. He was also very knowledgeable and made the tour unforgettable! Highly recommend!

My wife and I spent a lovely day viewing the amazing Duoro valley in a very comfortable Mercedes minivan. We thoroughly enjoyed our winery experience especially with Celia’s humorous presentation. Joao was an excellent driver that made us feel very safe during our long drive on a narrow winding road. We definitely recommend this tour.

A perfect way to experience the Douro Valley! From the pickup at our hotel to the fact filled drive to the winery, we were captivated. Our tour guide at the winery was entertaining and the view while tasting the wine, almonds and honey was spectacular. Our next stop was a delicious and authentic Portuguese lunch. We were so happy with Alex our guide who made sure the day was perfect! A fabulous value for a fun filled day. Highly recommend!

We did the Douro Valley half day tour with our two teenagers (13 and 18). Alex was our tour guide and he did an exceptional job. He shared all kinds of history and information about our route and the country of Portugal in general. He was so knowledge, accommodating, and kind. The drive is absolutely stunning, and it’s nice to sit back and just enjoy the views which are stunning. We then visited a winery where we got a tour showing us how both wine and olive oil. That was followed by olive oil and wine tasting for the adults and grape juice (also amazing) tasting for those that don’t drink alcohol. And the views were unmatched. From there we had a delicious lunch in one of villages and followed the road beside the river on the way back to Porto. Porto is an incredible city, but you will be missing so much if you skip the Douro Valley and this tour.

Alex was a fantastic guide. He was kind and courteous, and went out of his way to make sure that we were comfortable. He took lots of pictures along the way, which made for great moments to look back on and was super knowledgeable about the region and the countries history. The restaurant where we had lunch was also a very good taste of local Portuguese cuisine.

Douro Valley is a site to see! Thanks to Jose and Ricardo for a great afternoon and fitting the itinerary just right for our group since we were 18 in total, with 10 seniors.
