Rejs nordpå på en dagstur fra Porto til to af Portugals nordlige historiske byer, som i øjeblikket er i fokus i Europa. Første besøg i byen Braga, grundlagt af romerne for mere end 2.000 år siden. Den ældste kristne by i Portugal, Braga fejres i dag som den europæiske hovedstad for ungdom 2012. Først, opdage landets oprindelse i UNESCO-verdensarvsliste by Guimarães. Besøg Guimarães Slot, en bygning fuld af historie og "fødestedet for Portugal". Hjem til et 10. århundrede slot og hertugerne af Braganza Palace, byen er i dag fyldt med stolthed for at blive udnævnt til den europæiske kulturhovedstad for 2012. Vores første stop vil være Braga, Minho hovedstad, og så opdager vi den historiske by Guimarães. Forbered dine kameraer, og kom med os for at udforske to af de vigtigste byer i Portugals historie! Braga er en by i det nordlige del af Portugal nordøst for Porto. Det er kendt for arv og religiøse begivenheder. Mod øst har Bom Jesus do Monte-komplekset en neoklassisk kirke beliggende på en detaljeret 17-etagers trappe. I byens centrum huser middelalderlige Sé de Braga et museum for hellig kunst og gotisk stil Chapel of the Kings. I nærheden overser det imponerende Ærkebispegårde Santa Barbara-haven.
Et af de største højdepunkter på denne turné. Dette sted er berømt for sine uendelige trapper og barokke detaljer, og det vil bestemt imponere dig! Ikke kun et religiøst monument, det er også et virkelig romantisk og afslappende sted med en fantastisk udsigt over Braga. Her er naturen privilegeret og beskyttet med den største omhu.
Den storslåede Braga-katedral (også kendt som Braga-katedralen), et monument, der kombinerer tre forskellige stilarter: romansk, Manueline og barok. Det er den ældste katedral i Portugal - den blev endda bygget flere årtier før grundlæggelsen af landet! Uden tvivl er denne imponerende katedral Bragas største vartegn.
Efter frokost i Braga tager vi af sted til Guimarães, Portugals fødested og verdensarv, siden 2001. Guimarães er et sandt eksempel på udviklingen af en middelalderby gennem historien! Dette var byen, hvor den første konge af Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques blev født. Guimarães historie er relateret til fundamentet for national identitet og det portugisiske sprog.
Nationalt symbol på det tiende århundrede. Udefra er dens middelalderlige struktur imponerende; Inde i kan du få en storslået udsigt over byen. Bagefter fortsætter vi med at gå forbi paladset til hertugerne i Bragança og besøge São Miguel-kirken.

We had an incredible tour with Raquel in Braga and Guimaraes! She was very welcoming, and extremely knowledgeable about Portuguese history and hidden local gems. She kept the pace comfortable, gave us great recommendations for local food, and went above and beyond to make our experience special. We never felt rushed and learned so much. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Portugal!

Once I got on the bus, I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. The Living Tours guide and driver were very special. HOWEVER. My Viator ticket said to go to Palacio do Bolsa. I got there especially early in order to walk the 20 minute distance. When it was 10 minutes before leaving I received a phone call. I then had to scurry directly uphill for 20 minutes. By the time I arrived at the meeting point, which was around the bend from my hotel, I thought my heart would explode from excertion! My post-op legs were in pain, although I had my compression stockings on. I was in breathing distress. As I showed my ticket to the guide, to prove the information I'd been given, another group was called and had been given a different meeting point altogether! I've never had problems with Viator before, and sure hope it doesn't happen again!

Our guide was Felipe and he was amazing — very kind, knowledgeable, and polite. He had a wonderful sense of humor and made us laugh throughout the tour. He was extremely helpful and supportive within the group, and his positive attitude made the whole experience even better. The two cities we visited were very interesting and had beautiful, fascinating histories. We also had the chance to visit a few temples and castles, which made the whole experience even more memorable. Highly recommended!

My wife and I were joined by two French speakers and to our surprise, our Portuguese driver & tour guide was able to effortlessly speak to us in both languages! I did not catch her name, but our tour was on time, driving and narration were great and she gave us enough free time to explore things on our own in both locations. Top notch.

We were taken through the Duoro Valley winery tour by Maria Marabuio today. She has a wealth of knowledge about the vineyards. A true local of the area and a wonderful person to be around for the 10 hour tour. Great places to visit, great food and great wine tasting locations. Cannot recommend Maria enough.

I had a really great day on this tour. Both cities are beautiful and our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. We were only three people so it was like a private tour and I really enjoyed that. I recommend this tour.
