Lena was an amazing guide and Budapest is an amazing city! Lena was super knowledgeable about both history and current cultural events, giving perspective to the neighborhoods and people. She was friendly, flexible, and we really enjoyed the tour!
Lena was awesome. Smart, funny, knowledgeable. Not your ordinary tour. Lots of backstreets, hidden bars, street art stories and yes, some real history as well. The 3 hours flew by. Was the highlight of our Budapest trip. Highly recommend!
Fabulous and fun tour which includes some history, lots of street art and the stories behind it, and visits to a few of the ruin bars (which are really interesting and creative - a bit like speakeasies in style). Lena is a fantastic guide. She is full of knowledge about local culture and Hungarian customs. The time absolutely flew by! We chose to try a number of different types of Hungarian drinks Lena recommended, but that was optional. Soft drinks are also available if you don't want to do that. I would recommend this tour to anyone who would like to see one of the more famous areas of Budapest through the eyes of a local or to anyone who enjoys art and local culture. 5*
This is a MUST DO tour! It was our first full day in Budapest, and we couldn’t have had a nicer or more knowledgeable guide— she was awesome! Lena met us at an easy to find location and was promptly on time. We got a wonderful walking tour of Pest, with an emphasis on street art and Ruin bars, but there was also a lot of dialog about the history of the area and Hungary as a whole. She speaks 5 languages, has a doctorate degree, and makes you feel like she’s an old friend. Her English is really good and repeats anything if needed. We learned about cultural drinks and customs and all about the Ruin bars, visiting several of them. She also knew a lot about the history of Jews in the area and how the government has changed over the years. Get this tour and get ready for a fun and meaningful experience!
I like to find an event like this when I go to a new city; mostly just to get the feel of a new place from a local. I’ve done a few; I’m happy to report there were no outright bad experiences. A couple were good, but this one was one of the two GREAT experiences I have had. This is all personal taste, mind you; I like to hear about local history and culture, and be able to have some good conversations, if it goes that way. Lena was the guide for myself and a lovely woman near my age from the UK. Lena so was not only so very knowledgeable about a wide range of facts; she was engaged and so engaging. And nothing was on a rigid schedule; a couple of times she made on-the-fly changes that were fun and welcome. It was not just a tour of Ruin Bars, but also of local street art and its context. I’m a mature male, a seasoned traveler, and I was not looking for a ‘pub crawl’ that you do to get sh*t-faced in a new city; we saw a couple of those. I could not have asked for a better introduction than the one I received from Lena, to not just the culture, but also the truly delicious local liqueurs and the wonderful Hungarian people.
Lena was a wonderful guide striking the right balance between fun and education. Lena was friendly and relaxed and it was amazing to experience the night life of Budapest: the Ruin Bars are unique - they have to be experienced. Budapest at night feels safe, with a great vibe. Loved it! Wish I was here longer - I'd do it again!
Lena is an outstanding guide who provided a fantastic tour. The tour is a unique blend of culture, history, and art with enjoyment of local drinks. I loved getting to try all of the Hungarian specialty drinks, while Lena shared the history of how these wines and spirits fit into the history of Hungary. Lena went above and beyond as a guide. She created a very inviting atmosphere for me as a solo female traveler in our small tour group. She has unmatched local insight and even followed up with me afterwards to share a list of food and wine recommendations in Budapest. Of all the things to do in Budapest, this experience should be at the top of your list!
Brilliant tour with the beautiful Lena. -10 and the tour still flew over! Street art, history of Budapest and a tour of some of the infamous ruin bars. Fantastic afternoon, good conversation smashing small group, plenty of laughs and warming drinks. Nice to avoid the louder night time experience and chill! An absolute must do experience. I took over 200 photos, so picking just 10 is really hard! :)
Lena was an excellent and informed guide. Her knowledge of the Jewish Quarter and murals were interesting and we went to great ruin bars.
A superb experience learning about Budapest history, viewing amazing street art, tasting new drinks and visiting fantastic ruin bars! Great company and lead by Lena who provided great energy and knowledge! Highly recommend this as a mixture of history and positive vibes!
