Den største og fineste helligdommen i det antikke Athen, der primært er dedikeret til dens skyder, gudinden Athena, har domineret centrum af byen i årtusinder. Akropolis monumenter (Parthenon, Athena Nike, Erechteion, Propylae, Teater af Dionysus, ...), alle unikke mesterværker af gammel arkitektur har påvirket kunst og kultur i mange århundreder og står i harmoni med deres naturlige omgivelser.
Dionysos var guden for vin og druehøst. Dionysos teater var det ældste, der blev grundlagt i Athen; det var i dette teater, at de uovertrufne værker af Aischylos, Sofokles, Euripides og Aristofanes blev opført for første gang.
Athenas tempel Nike var dedikeret til gudinderne Athena og Nike. Nike var sejrsgudinden i græsk mytologi, og Athena blev tilbedt i denne form, repræsentant for at sejre i krig. Det siges, at kultstatuen af gudinden ved templet ikke havde nogen vinger, så hun aldrig ville forlade Athen.
Erechtheion er et gammelt græsk tempel bygget på Athens Akropolis for at huse den gamle trækultstatue af Athena og generelt forherlige den store by på højden af dens magt og indflydelse.
Parthenon er et tempel, der dominerer bakken ved Akropolis i Athen. Det blev bygget i midten af det 5. århundrede fvt og dedikeret til den græske gudinde Athena Parthenos ("Jomfruen Athena"). Templet anses generelt for at være kulminationen på udviklingen af den doriske orden, den enkleste af de tre klassiske græske arkitektoniske ordener.
Agoraen var hjertet af det gamle Athen, fokuset på politisk, kommerciel, administrativ og social aktivitet, det religiøse og kulturelle center og rettssædet.
Hephaestus storslåede tempel, et af de bedst bevarede antikke templer i verden, var stedet for tilbedelse af to vigtige guddomme for mange købmænd og butiksejere af den antikke agora: gud Hephaestus, protektor af alle metallurgister og gudinde Athena Ergani, beskytter alle pottere og sommerhuse.

Our guide, Dora, captivated the imagination of our six grandchildren and held their attention for nearly three hours—a remarkable accomplishment. Through her engaging storytelling, she brought the mythology, history, and significance of the Acropolis and the Parthenon to life, making the experience fascinating for every member of our group, from the youngest to the oldest. This was a great experience! Our tour guide Vikki was very knowledgeable and experienced. This tour was a great way to see the connection of the gods and goddesses and the places created for them. I would highly recommend this experience if you are interested in mythology! Make sure to take water with you!
This is a good excursion for a morning visiting the most fabulous ancient place of Athens. We had a great guide and the time for the activities is well coordinated
We had a great experience with Michael on this tour! He was great at pacing through all of the many sights, so we never felt rushed or like we were waiting. He was great at telling all the stories and making them come alive. It was so helpful to be able to pre purchase entry tickets as well. This tour will let you see all the main historic sights with entertaining background. Highly recommended!

**Athens, a city where history meets modernity!** I was pleasantly surprised by Athens. The city offers a unique blend of incredible historical sites, such as the Acropolis and the Pláka neighborhood, and a modern vibe with numerous cafes, restaurants, and boutiques. The locals are welcoming, the Greek cuisine is excellent, and the sunsets from the heights of the city are magnificent. Walking through the streets allows you to discover both iconic monuments and lively, charming neighborhoods. I recommend planning at least 2 to 3 days to enjoy the main sites while taking the time to savor the local atmosphere. Despite the tourist crowds in high season, Athens remains an authentic destination that is well worth the detour. An experience that I recommend to anyone who wishes to combine culture, gastronomy, and sunshine.
Very family friendly tour. Our 8 yo and 12 yo enjoyed the tour, the mythology stories kept them engaged. The pace was reasonable and our 5 yo was able to keep up easily. We stopped multiple times for bathrooms, water, and gelato.
We went to Athens for a couple of days and went on a tour with Vassia. She explained in French ( for us French people) the myths and history of the city and it was really amazing. She was captivating and explained some stories in really fun ways, we were always waiting for the next one. We went to the acropolis and the agora it was great. Thank you Vassia!
Our guide Maria was so knowledgeable and made the history come alive. My teenagers (boys) loved it. Highly recommend!
