We recommend!!!! A guide at the top, full of kindness that adapts to each participant and even plays the role of photographer... Thanks to him we were able to discover wonderful landscapes. Thanks, Ganis. The hike is very shaded and often in the water so even with strong heat we are fine. We ended with a delicious smoothie and a Greek salad with a very nice owner. The level of the hike is accessible with family (for us from 13 to 53 years old), just do not have joint difficulties and good shoes!!!
Great river walking experience, getting to see the water falls from water level is worth the entire trip, so the four km walk down the river is just an extra bonus. Our guide was fantastic, very knowledgeable about the area and gave us some extra tips on where else to visit. Communication prior to the trip went well and all the equipment was in excellent shape. Overall a very enjoyable way to spend the day.
My partner and I attended the River Trekking in Kourtaliotiko Gorge. Manolis got in touch with us after we booked via the Viator App, to arrange our transfer. He was kind and helpful with any questions we had. He truly went above and beyond to accommodate us! I appreciate the Logo of Cretan Explorer is on their Van and as their WhatsApp Logo. It meant we immediately recognised the vehicle when it came to collect us. Transfers are from the Plaikas region. I couldn't recommend this experience more. It was the highlight of mine and my partners trip to Crete. The scenery is amazing. Along our trek starting at the Waterfall, we were immersed in the natural beauty of the Mountains and river. The gentleman who led the trek had an extensive knowledge of the wildlife and history of the area. We walked through some land, saw gardens growing and array of exotic fruits, and even bumped into a friendly horse! The Banana Garden was the perfect way to end our hike. The banana garden is reached by a bridge crossing the river and once you cross the garden is so tranquil. After a refreshing juice and delicious lunch made by his wife, the owner walked me round the garden to show his fruit trees and other plants and wildlife. A truly spectacular experience. 10/10 !!
Very nice and well-organized river trekking tour! The difficulty was OK. The scenery was really beautiful. Definitely a worthwhile experience to see Crete from a different perspective! The transfer went really well and the guide was nice. You get a wetsuit, a helmet, hiking poles and a waterproof pack sack. You should make sure to wear suitable footwear, such as sneakers. Afterwards there was a nice get-together in a small cafe.
