Turen begynder på Rhinen promenade med smuk udsigt over floden.
På den storslåede katedralplads, hvor vi vil se farverige, pyntet gamle huse og den smukke renæssance brønd. Hvis vi er heldige, vil vi også opleve den traditionelle landmandsmarked, som stadig finder sted her hver tirsdag, fredag og lørdag (indtil 14:00) som det har i århundreder.
Fra katedralen vil vi slentre gennem den nærliggende gamle bydel ("Altstadt"). Vi går langs de romantiske snoede gader i den middelalderlige del af byen og opdager maleriske små pladser som Kirsebærhaven ("Kirschgarten") med dens bindingsværkshuse.
I mere end tusind år har den mægtige St. Martin-katedral tårnet sig op over den antikke by Mainz. Her er konger blevet kronet og den protestantiske reformation blev tændt. Oplev dens mange unikke funktioner, hør om dens dramatiske historie og mød hovedløse St. Alban i klostrene.

The tour of Old Mainz with Judith was absolutely superb! She made the history of the area come alive with her stories of the history, architecture , economic importance of this old city and made us fall in love with Mainz! It was truly the highlight of our time in Germany and would highly recommend her tour to anyone considering visiting this city. I know we would love to come back and spend more time exploring further.
Judith is well informed about Mainz and a great communicator. Mainz is a historic German city on the Rhine, famous for being the birthplace of Gutemberg and home to an important museum dedicated to him. With a prominent Romanesque cathedral and vibrant traditions such as Carnival.
This is one of the best tours we have had. Judith was wonderful and it was wonderful to tour with a local. You will no be disappointed to book this tour!

Excellent experience with Judith. She was very knowledgable about Mainz and the history. She showed us around the cathedral and pointed out many interesting facts and showed us many unique features.
